  • How does this compare to Arlo pro 2?

    • Most people think Arlo Pro 2 is better

      • +2

        Because it's better.
        Swann Cam is rubbish.

  • The battery only last about 3-4 hrs recording and no solar recharging as Argus 2

  • +3

I clicked the link to the add and Harvey Norman chat client pop up says, "Hello Ozbargainer - Need any advice…"

  • Each camera has internal memory to accommodate up to 7 days of 10 to 60 second videos

Can someone calculate that for me? lol

  • I have these, well an older model of these. I was impressed by their clarity and night vision but disappointed with the app to control them. There is a solar recharging kit available, not sure on the cost.
I get a lot longer than 3-4 hours, i get weeks however as they have motion sensors they are not recording solid. They are in high traffic areas and record a lot.

For me, the let down is the app. You cant set active hours meaning they are always triggering when I could have set them to sleep. The onboard recording is small unless you expand it with an onboard sd card. The standard cloud recording space provided is 2 days from memory. So if you need longer, your ether need the onboard or to sign up for a larger plan with Swann. Not sure about the 7days they claim for these. They connect via wifi so you will need a good signal at all access points. Connecting to the live view can take a long time even if you are standing right at the camera.

Overall, they have a great picture, but the functionality would turn me off buying again.

    • 3 cameras for $324. At that price, is it worth trying out or buy again?

      • Get Bunnings or Officeworks to price match it, try it and take advantage of their generous returns policies get a refund

        • What are you going to say to them when returning ?

          • @yht: Just make up some excuse like "wifi connection kept dropping out" or something

            • @froodh: I guess Bunnings will be better with that excuse rather than OW. OW is temperamental.

              • @yht: i've returned a laptop to ow just with "didn't like it, it runs too slowly"

                • @froodh: As I said, they are temperamental and depending to the Manager of the store.

      • It is cheap for the 3 cameras. I paid around $750 for 4 of them just over a year ago.

  • Thanks OP

For me I was looking at the other models that are Power over Ethernet (PoE). Have not bought yet, but that's on my wish list.

Price range is a lot higher though.

PoE means cabling with a Cat 6 data cable, but can then get higher res cameras, with more storage, plus can hook up the base unit with a UPS in case of a blackout.

    • The camera sets are generally cheaper also if you are willing to go through the cabling process.

  • My concern is the short battery life, which you have to get up and down charging it inside the house avery month

    • You can use a water proof panel to charge it

      • Another $80
