Best Point and Shoot Camera with Decent Optical Zoom

Hi all

Am looking to buy my dad a new point and shoot - his was something I got him 5 years ago or longer (can't recall).

Ideally something beginner friendly that doesn't require much tweaking to look nice, has a decent optical zoom (10x or more).

Looking to spend $300 to $600. What would be a good one to buy and where would be the cheapest place to buy it (and assume I can claim GST on this)
