IMO get the Philips. It costs a little more but the older models all cook exactly the same but it's tried and tested.

    • The smaller one is less than 1l capacity & costs around 150$. Thats small size and wont be enough for 3.

  • Target was advertising a Bellini air fryer for $99 last week (Disclaimer: didn't buy, haven't tried)

    • I seen this but already got one from aldi, actually looks decent and larger than the aldi one. They had the phillips beside it that wa s significantly smaller.

    • Pretty good reviews on this one. I think i will go with this one.
      Thanks

      Perfect pun opportunity missed there-

      Disclaimer: didn't buy, haven't fried

  • For the past 30 years, my family has used this/similar to this which I believe is almost the same as an air fryer (it's fan forced) - https://www.kmart.com.au/product/12l-convection-oven/847303

Has anyone owned both and do comparison?

  • Wondering if anybody has tried any other unconventional items in their air fryer with success.

I am talking about maybe air frying vegetables or even frozen mini pizzas or other frozen foods or is it just good for chips and pies.

Looking for a cheap and simple very easy to wash air fryer that uses the least needed amount of energy to cook some frozen stuff mainly chips and veggies.

    • I have cooked different frozen convenience foods that normally goes in a oven - fish, chicken, dim sims. Will try a lasagna soon. I'm sure a pizza will work if I can find a small enough pizza or pizza slices. Set the temp about 5 to 10'C below the directions for an oven and halve the time.

To keep the air fryer clean, place the food either in a porcelain bowl or plate. Sometimes I prop up the food with a wire stand so that there is air flow underneath.

      • In your experience has porcelain or other types of bowls and plates withstand the heat of the air fryer?

I have never tried and always wondered if the heat might crack the bowls and plates especially if they are a bit fragile.

I have been using some good Corelle branded bowls and I think the plates are of the same quality a bit thicker honestly could be refined clay or something but standard plate I believe.

I guess what I am asking is are there any cutlery I should avoid putting in an air fryer for long periods of time due to it maybe cracking, breaking or getting destroyed in some way.

Obviously no plastic or tupperware containers to go inside like you would not put in a conventional oven due to it possibly melting but how does bowls or plates of the other kind fare.

        • Porcelain bowls and plates should be fine at the max temp of the air fryer (200'C) as long as you don't wash it with cold water while it is still hot.

          • @skid: Good point.. very true that. Gotta make sure everything is cool before washing in cold water unless it is a metal pot then usually it is ok.
