Where to Buy a Wool Base Layer Online?

Looking to get some wool base layer shirts (the kind that you wear under your clothes to keep warm during winter), does anyone have any suggestions on where to find bargains for them online? Other than ebay?

Last time i bought some, it was merino wool for $30 from a brand called Dsend but i think it was their clearanee sale and the site I got it from doesn't sell them anymore (and has no good deals).

    Icebreaker, Kathmandu, Macpac, NorthFace.

    • First two are massively overpriced. Just look at kathmandu prices…even on sale its ridiculous.

Just checked out northface and macpac. Macpac's stuff is all $100+ even for a simple wool shirt. Northface is like $80+.

Can you think of any that might go down to $30 on sale? The ones i got from a NZ site were $30 on sale but I havent been able to find the brand since.

Icebreaker are costly but last so much longer than Kathmandu or Macpac and they are easier to care for. i.e no wool wash.

Take a look at https://www.hallensteins.com if you're are NZ woolmark stuff.

Wool base layers aren't really seen at below $30.

if you find a bargain, post back. I am in the market too.

  • Kathmandu. Wait for sales if you can. They reliably discount heavily.

    • Even on sale the prices are not cheap though…

  • I don't think they're merino but Uniqlo has some which are reasonably priced

    • Where are you seeing this? I only see some wool sweaters on their site. Sweaters are not base layers.

      • HeatTech (and HeatTech Extra Warm) are not wool, but even the standard one provided excellent warmth in 1-4C temperatures with only a cotton t shirt, cotton sweater, and wool coat over the top. Warmer outerwear with the Extra Warm variant of their HeatTech would be more than enough for sub 0 temps IMO.
