Free Computer Games for Earthquake-Affected New Zealand Kids, Free Shipping

Free computer games to Kiwi kids in quake-affected areas, from Dooverlackies.

Up to 60,000 people who fled Christchurch are expected to start returning this week. http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news

Given the more recent devastating earthquake and ensuing disasters in Japan, focus has shifted from the suffering of those closest to us. So while this may be a small gesture, any kindness to a child is as big as it needs to be.

    1. Belongs in forums
    2. its Ozbargain not Kiwigain

    Wrong market….

    • Lol, Marketing 101 fail.

      • Can you please explain to us how creating awareness of a donation is a 'fail'? Or does being charitable towards less fortunate people generally constitute 'failure'? Further, what did you do to help?

        • -> 4WD-MAD

It looks like your charitable offer has at least 2 conditions on it:
          - every "less fortunate" person you help, has to go on your mailing list
          - you want advertising in a different country (ie here, vs NZ) to people who are not affected but might buy from you

While your business is making a charitable offer, it's getting something in return.

Also, Google found one site in NZ where you've made the offer … maybe there are newspapers there who could carry the story for you :) and get the word out to more of the affected people so they can take you up on your offer.

(Note: It's a good idea to state up front how many kids you can help with this offer, before you get too many requests … if you do get exposure in a NZ paper that is)

re: all people taking up the offer must go on the contact list

          From your site:

Dooverlackies would love to keep in touch every now and then.
          * Yes, send me the monthly Newsletter (email)
          * OK, but not too often
          * No, unless it's free or very cheap item

          1. We've seen a very big difference between what businesses call "very cheap items" and what customers who do research call "very cheap items"
          2. Why isn't there an outright "No, don't mail me" option?

Doover Lackies must be giving away the horse riding game they were trying to sell last week.

Actually it's either Dogz or Catz

  • @foundit: No you're confused a bit I think :) If you'd kindly check the date and the details properly, you'll see that you've got your wires crossed. This free offer (and you can't get better than completely free, can you?) was always for the Dogz or Catz game, and www.dooverlackies.com offered this once to Kiwi kids in quake-affected areas, at no charge.

    • Ah sorry about that. I had a comment there that was a mistake and so it was off topic.

I read Michaelz101's reference and I had my wires crossed.

Thank you for the correction 4WD-MAD.
