    Digital can be played by 2 people at the same time (xb1 game sharing) maybe thats the reason behind it

      Before when 1 person could only play it was still expensive as stated below sounds more realistic.

    There was an article I read … which related to the Nintendo eStore… but I think the reason still holds the same with the PS Store. The manufacturers (Sony, MS, and Nintendo) don't want to alienate the distributors and software resellers. If they sell digital copies cheap… then these stores will effectively die a slow death in theory or reduce profits at least… Besides, there's other advantages for the manufacturers as well to sell physical…
