After a decent set of earbuds, nothing in ear.
Want something that will stay in and not be uncomfortable, bonus if it has a mic to use with my phone for calls!

OP could have been clearer. I think they're after earbuds like the old style iPod ear buds, rather than the new style ear buds that fit inside the outer ear canal.

in-ear are mostly referenced as iems, earbuds (flat open tiny headphones that fit in your ear) are also known as earphones

I've heard people talk fairly highly of these in regards to non in-ear earphones

AirPods are recommended for general daily use including taking phone calls and Skype for Business at work etc. Works with any bluetooth device even laptops.
NOT recommended if you are after music quality and any form of bass but then you wouldn't be looking for earbuds.

I like and use apple earpods just fine, for microphone and music
other than that I don't usually buy earbuds with mic, but I do use some philips earbuds, that I know that they also have a version with microphone (but I can't recommend if you want to listen to music)
