Isn't it cheaper just to get a Telstra account?

    • You mean via a cheap prepaid SIM? Not sure if it works with prepaid, anyone tried?

yep, need to have $30 credit though which I do on a long life plan ($30/year)
gets me afl, nrl, a-league, netball
can even stream onto tv with Shield and the apps sideloaded which seems to bypass the 10" or whatever screen restriction (though they always trying to block this shit with AFL at least)

i dunno whether the data is free, it used to be when I watched on phone - the long life plan only has like 100MB

        • Thanks dnutter, good to know. I don't have a Shield but have a Mi Box, I wonder if it works on that too?

        • What is shield? I'd like to bypass the size restrictions too

            • @alvian: how did you bypass it? I signed up for the trial and when i sideloaded the app onto my shield it only showed in a small box still.

              • @stephenvz: Sorry I don't know. I don't have a Shield. I was only replying to crackman on his question of what it is.

              • @stephenvz: Same here. Tiny 7 inch box on my 75 inch screen ugh how annoying

          • @crackman: Should be able to cast the whole Android screen (rather than the app itself) to a Chromecast.

        • Thanks! That's awesome to know!

          • @maddoglee: Tried it on my Pixel 2 with the game today and it doesn't work :(

Maybe you'll have better luck with your devices?

            • @rith: I got it working on my old Redmi Note 2 and it was fine… It was on One as well.. but I wa stuffing around for ages.. Also, Woolies and Coles have $40 sims half price ($20) … its best to get that.. I used about $4 of credit trying to get it working…
They limit the screen size which is the most annoying thing.. I thought I had a mad scam going to watch it on my Android TV.. Telstra finally have employed software engineers smarter than me :(

    • It is indeed.. Thanks for pointing it out! It cost me $20 instead of saving $20.. hahah

What a joke when EPL is only $15 a month.

    • This is cheaper than the EPL: $15/month x 10 month EPL season is $150. Conversely this annual pass for the 8 month A-League season works out to $10 per month.

Includes socceroos matches too don't forget

  • Telstra Mobile network customers only. Not for Telstra internet or phone customers by the look of it.

  • And it casts to smart tv full screen as well 😉

    • Can you please explain how to do this, I'd love to get this working on my TV

    • Me too! Couldn't get it working

  • I was watching the Socceroos vs Kuwait using my old Samsung Galaxy S4 and turned on the screen mirror option and it projected onto an LG Smart TV with full screen resolution ;) The AFL and NRL don't allow this anymore, so I'm sure this won't last for long haha

    • Ahh I get an error in screen mirroring that says I can't do it for live matches

  • Still working. Just watched victory vs city game

    • Was it smooth? Screen mirroring worked for the replay videos, just not the live match.. It was pretty jerky and unwatchable on my set up :(

  • Yes it was fine. Was watching on my samsung smart tv last night. Start the football app, make sure its on full screen on your phone and then slide down phones top bar menu and select screen mirror option and she should appear on your television. Jets game starts in just over an hour 😉
