Help with Choosing a NBN Plan in Victoria

I need help choosing a new NBN plan. I’m extremely unhappy with my current one (Mate Communicate) constant drop outs, issues with bills and really bad customer service.

What I'd like and what I can afford are two different things, ideally no slower then 25mbps and 500gb - 1000gb data per month but unlimited data would be better. Also month by month contract is a must! Either free modem or byo modem only. $60 a month but could go to $70 for a good one. No more then $70 though.

I’ve been looking around and the one that’s sticking out to me at the moment is Kogan’s 25mbps / unlimited data / $57.90 with no contract. Only thing I’m not sure about is that Kogan buys NBN from vodaphone. I don’t know how great Voda is on NBN, I’d go direct with Voda but their modem/hub thing is a deal breaker for me.

I know at least one person will say it so I’ll say this first. I’m NOT interested in Aussie broadband, I’m not on that bandwagon.
And they’re too expensive for me anyway

Thanks in advance for the help :)

  • Exetel 500gb $60 or unlimited $70

    • +1

I've gone with exetel unlimited for $60. contract is only 12mths and free modem. tech is coming on Monday to install!

  • I can highly recommend Mungi Internet. Currently on the Unlimited 50/20 plan and no slow downs, even on peak hours and with a VPN. They're doing it at $64.95/month. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. Signed up on a Sunday morning, got connected the very same day. It's a shame they removed the 100/40 though…

  • I considered both exetel and mungi.

I decided against exetel because there is a lot of bad reviews, even on this site.

Mungi is too expensive, $70 for the first 5 months then $74.95.

    • Didn't know they increased their price…was $64.95 back in August when I signed up. It's probably due to NBN Co increasing their fees as Aussie too has inflated their plans. There's been speculations that Mungi will go under by the end of the year. Let's hope it's not true.

      • I have a feeling that half of the nbn providers that are around now will be gone in a year or two.

        Thanks for the suggestion though.

  • Any other suggestions? I’m having a hard time finding one.

    • TPG $69.99. Give them a call and they'll waive the $99.95 no contract fee.
BTW Exetel NBN is ranked second for Netflix. Most complaints were with ADSL.

      • Tpg doesn’t do nbn without house phone and with that you have to have $20 deposit. They where my first thought when I was going to change to nbn

Are you sure? If you search exetel here you get a lot of bad comments referring to them
