Subway Pricing - Individual Franchisee or Corporate Pricing?

Just wondering if Subway franchises have to follow corporate set pricing or it's up to individual franchisee to set their own pricing?

My local has jacked their standard footlong pricing for a footlong meatball to $9.95 (not sure when) as I'm sure it was $7 or $7.95. Is that standard pricing now or just my local?

subway prices differs between stores, eg.

    meatball 9.7
    ham 8.5
    pizza 8

and i think they pulled all $7 footlongs long ago

Yea, I stopped going to Subway when they pulled their $7 meatball footlong pricing.

I don't get how they can charge $9.70 for meatball, then $8 for pizza.
I thought all those ones are in the same pricing bracket. Then you have premium priced ones, maybe midrange, and then limited time range are priced different too .
Surely their cost of meatballs is not going to be $1.70 higher than their cost of salami and cheese etc for pizza footlong.

Maybe meatball subs are more popular and so they can up its price without affecting units sold as much.

Meatball subs ya gotta store the goods hot - pizza, not so much.

        • Uh no…the meatballs are stored in a container at the bar, as with their chicken strips and other meat. Its only hot if you ask for the sub to be toasted.

Its at each stores discretion which sucks tbh.

  • $7.95 I think is the standard price for footlong of the budget range .. meatball, pizza, turkey, etc .

    • Thats what i thought too, but semi-recently it's been increased to 9.95 at my local.

  • been a few years since i had subway. i remember when it opened in caloundra and footlongs were about $5-6 each. Sandwiches were longer too, actually 12 inches. My sister's friend gave us a massive stack of stamps to fill up cards so it was no worries all summer. Hence no more point cards.

    Doctors Associates.

    • Appropriate name, doctors profit from the health problems caused by fastfood.

I could be wrong but I'm almost sure the Meatball sub was bumped up a range and was no longer in the budget one. Was a shame because it was like my favourite, but I never checked.

  • At Kogarah its 6$ footlongs for the budget range after 3pm everyday

Some are corporate owned, some are franchise owned, the franchise owned ones can set their own prices, but must follow Subway National deals and promotions

  • Rubbish way

Definitely that's two pizzas at Domino's or two pork rolls at most places.

Out in the sticks it's competitive with like $7 minimum burgers but in the city and all over major population of Sydney out is quite expensive especially with the other deals you can get nowadays.

Some places you can get a full sit down meal for $10

  • They've definitely raised the prices-at least all the stores I've been to. Previously $7 footlongs are now $9.95+. Notice how they don't have those $7 footlong Rv ads anymore. Shame, subway was one of my favourite fast food outlets. Not anymore.

  • 11 bucks for a footlong pizza now? $18 for a sun box? When the meal before the introduced the sub box was cheaper.. what a joke
