Best Alternative to a Credit Card for Earning FF Points

I dont want to have a credit card but still like the idea of being able to earn some FF points on everyday purchases. Are there any debit cards that give points or benefits for spending? I used to have the orange everday card and would get 2% cashback on all eftpos transactions but unfortunately that got canned.

I was thinking of getting a velocity global wallet card and just loading it with AUD and using it as an eftpos card. I believe u get 1 velocity point per $3 spend in AUS. Would that be my best bet or are there any other viable options?

  • Pretty sure bankwest has an everyday debit card that earns qff

    • Yeah there is a BW Qantas transaction account.

Have a look at it. Compared to a credit card it’s not a great way to earn points.

Just get something like the ANZ deal and set the limit really low.

Mine is set at like $4,000. I get emails from them offering to up my limit.

As long as you are smart and sensible about it, nothing wrong with credit cards

Without getting a credit card, you only have 3 real options:

    Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account
    * Earn 12 Qantas Points per $100 in your account each month.
    * Earn 5 Qantas Points per eligible purchase on your Debit Mastercard
    * Earn 5 Qantas Points each time you withdraw cash from an overseas ATM

You have to pay a $6 account keeping fee each month unless you deposit $2000 each month.

Qantas Travel Money Card (previously known as Qantas Cash)
    * Earn 0.25 Qantas Points per $1 spent in AUD
    * Earn 1.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent in foreign currency

If you use the "instant load" functionality, a 0.5% surcharge will apply. Otherwise you can use the fee-free Bank Transfer or BPAY options that take a day or 2.

    Velocity Global Wallet
    * Earn 0.33 Velocity Points per $1 spent in AUD
    * Earn 2 Velocity Points per $1 spent in foreign currency

If you use the "instant load" functionality, a 1% surcharge will apply. Otherwise you can use the fee-free Bank Transfer or BPAY options that take a day or 2.
If you start it up by November 30, use the promo code "GWOCT" when signing up to get 1 Velocity point per $2 loaded onto your card up to 1000 points / $2000 loaded (don't have to spend it).

My personal prefence would be for the Velocity Global Wallet simply because of the higher points earn.
