Err doweyy, what happened to this post? Coupon code goes in the coupon code box. You can come back and edit it after the coupon expires later tonight.

    • Considering APP15 only lasts for 1 hour, I thought it would be better to put the original price, then APP15 as an option? Change if you would like, was a grey area for me.

      • Without APP15 in the code box this deal does not appear in the related tab in your $15 off deal post.

        • What's the APP? Thanks

          • @BooYa: App deal expired, don't worry about it.

            • @alvian: Ok no worries, you guys are quick

  • +1

    Great price doweyy.

  • +4

Thanks doweyy, got it at $311 :) You just made my day!

    • How?

      • +3

Maccas $20 + $15 + TRS later trickles down to around that price

        • How to get the Maccas $20? Thanks

          • @JaeTee: I think the Monopoly promotion is already over, so you can't get it anymore. But using cashback gets back roughly the same amount, if not more

        • What's TRS? Thanks

          • @BooYa: Tax refund scheme for travelling overseas.

Awesome work UnderWaterLlama, glad I could help out :)

Just got mine today; paid $400 because I couldn’t get an eBay code to work.

But, they absolutely wipe the floor with my (lost) Bose QC35s in every department. I’d have been happy if I’d paid $500 for them.

    • agree, it is good for watching TV as well, love it, gave BOse to my bro and Plantronics to my friend.

    • are they as comfortable as the QC35s?

      • Nah, QC35 wins for comfort.

      • +1

It’s very close but too early to say. Short term comfort is very, very good (super soft pads) but I’ll let you know after a 5.5 hour flight next week.

They make the QC35s feel really, really old by comparison with respect to the technology. Sound is vastly superior too.

        • +2

I own both, and have used the Sony's for long periods of time (6-ish hours) as well as done a 14 hour flight with the Bose. The Bose definitely win in the comfort department , no question.
The Sony's have better/richer sound though, with noticeably better bass.

If comfort is a major factor over long periods, I would go the Bose (the bose still have good sound, just not as good as the Sony's). if you're after better/fuller sound, with decent comfort then the sony's might be the better choice.

    • Aside from being physically larger than the QC35s. I own the Sonys, gf owns QC35s, she prefers hers due to them being a lot slimmer.

  • Code not working for me. Any suggestions?

  • +6

So, not so funny story: Someone in the apartment unit above us got STABBED. According to the policeman who interviewed us, the attacker rang the upstairs doorbell, and when the woman answered the attacker forced his way in and stabbed the woman. You want to know what scary part is? I didn't hear a thing, thanks to my amazing Sony WH1000XM3 headphones. I got them on Amazon AU for $377 with shipping (thanks Prime!). These things work as advertised! Probably the best noise cancelling headphones I have ever owned. 10/10 would buy again.

    • -5

      Cool Story bruh!

    • +1

Yeah I never open the door to my apartment. A friend would txt and ransoms would use the buzzer

      • How do you get out? Through the window?

    • +2

I thought you were going to say the scary part is that she was wearing her amazing Sony WH1000XM3 headphones and didn't hear the attacker forcing entry through her front door.

    • +2

      Nice copy/paste from Amazon.

Woke up at 12:45am to visit the toilet. Check my phone and saw this post. Bought it for $365 just in time. Go back to sleep. Thanks op.

This headphone probably drop to $290 in 12 months prior to m4 released.

    • As I said, they’re worth paying $500 for. They’re that good.

    • How to get $365…?

      • Probably less than that after cashreward, trs, and $15 app code.

  • I am thinking of getting Bose Noise canceling but just found these ones. Any suggestions?

    • +1

Summary from other sites reviews: Sony beats in almost everything against the QC35's. But there is a flaw with connecting multiple devices. Basically troublesome when reconnecting devices. If that does not bother you much, then Sony's is the better choice.

    • go with sony if you are boom boom bass head

    • bose more comfortable, but sony generally better in all aspects

    • I would try both in a store using your own music. I actually found the Bose still having better noise cancelling in the vocal range, the M3 somehow gave me a bit of cabin pressure discomfort, and has too much bass (but could probably be adjusted with the app)

I went with the Bose at the end mainly for the comfort and the ease of connecting to multiple devices.

    • I’ve had both and I’m telling you to get these. That’s completely unbiased opinion and just based on long term Bose experience.

The nose cancelling on these is far, far better, as for sound quality and tech, there’s no comparison. The Bose just feel cheaper too.

Of course, there’s this business about only being able to connect to one device at a time but I really cannot see that being an issue. How man6 devices do most people use. Anyway, pairing is a breeze.

      • From what I've read, QC35 II is just QC35 I (released 2016) with additional features.

So, comparing XM3 to QC35 is like comparing the new to the old.

Bose would have to release QC35 III or QC45 to have something on par with XM3.

        • While making some solid products, Bose are hardly innovators with the QC range. There’s never been much change to each reincarnation but the next model needs a wholesale change.

  • Best headphones ever! Must buy for everyone.

    • +3

thanks, I'll PM you my address

      • along with your CC details..

  • How is this better than QC35 II?

    • +3

Noise cancelling is much better, trying them on side by side in store.
Sound is a bit better, and can EQ in the app, but also I wouldn't buy either of these headphones purely for sound quality (although both aren't bad), mainly for noise cancelling and convenience of wireless.

The Bose are slightly lighter, and some say more comfortable. Personally, I found them about the same comfort. Bose have google assistant built in, and quick switching for Bluetooth.

      Personally would recommend the Sony.

      • +1

Also, quick charging, quick ambient mode (continue a convo with the headphones still on your head) and better battery life.

Some people may prefer the fit on the Sony's, but that's subjective so you should try both out.

    • +1

I compared Sony and Bose in store and really found the QC35II sounded much better. The XM3 is nice looking and fits quite comfortably but the sound is a bit artificial and I also experienced a white noise when ANC on without music.

      • Second that with the white noise without music. I get a strange crackling sound on the left cup

      • not just that but Bose looked better on my small head as I like to go as subtle as possible.

  • Please mark this as expired. Price went up to $461.99.

  • AHHHH. Was about to pull the trigger on it too. Waited too long and missed out on this + the $15 discount.

    • +3

Available at JB for 399 now.

  • You guys must have amazing audio amplifiers/DACs to take advantage of these amazing headphones. I doubt there will be much audio performance gain compared to my AKG headphones that came in the box on my s9, if I plug it into the jack. Thoughts ?

    • Not even in the same league as the Sony. Wired and no active noise cancellation. Plus Sony invented the LDAC codec.

    • +1

Those headphones are great for coming stock with the phone, but as Erkel said, no noise cancellation, plus the audio quality is definitely not as good.

Saying this, if audio quality is what you're looking for don't go for these Sony's - but they are really great for travelling / incredible noise cancellation / convenience of wireless. The audio quality is good, but definitely not the best if audio quality is your main focus.

Can recommend Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro's for accurate, great soundscape over-ear headphones - plus fairly cheap for what you're getting. However they are bulky, and don't go up super loud without an external amplifier. I still enjoy listening in a low - moderate noise environments through my S8 headphone output. They are open back so you can hear a lot of your surroundings.

For in ears, 1more Triple Drive Headphones are pretty good bang for buck, and outperform the AKGs, but there are definitely better ones you can buy

      • The dt990 premium 600ohm version I had was terrible in the treble. Extremely bright and killing my ears. Sold it in the end.

        • Oooh yes I have heard this about the 600ohm version. Sorry I was referring to the 250 ohm version

      • I know sound is subjective but the DT990 Pro's must be awesome because I think the Sony sound great (as long as NC is turned on). Previously I had been using the Senheiser Amperior which win narrowly in some categories (punchy tight bass) but loses in others (soundstage).

        • They are great headphones! They aren't very excitable headphones, they won't boost bass or anything, and are really flat across the range of frequencies. But for hearing an accurate representation of how music / movies are supposed to sound, they're incredible. So great with dynamics and can listen for long periods without getting fatigued ears.

I bought them about 5 years ago when I started working in music production, and still haven't come across headphones I enjoy more, even for listening!

Don't get me wrong - the XM3's are great, but I find the bass is a bit muddy. However I am shopping around for some for flights/commutes because of the incredible noise cancelling!

          • @snoopydoop: Have the DT990 come down in price? Could have sworn they used to be $400+ years ago now they are like $200. That being said I need isolation and the DT990 are on the opposite spectrum being open and ofc no NC.

    • They're wireless headphones.. why would you plug them into an amp? They use their own built in DAC.

  • +1

Coming from the M2, the noise-cancellation on the M3 is unreal, no other headphones even come close. Don't care about the multiple device connection issue; I pair mine with my phone during flights, quick and simple, no need to carry multiple bluetooth devices on me.

    • Wow really the noise cancelling is even better on the M3? Crazy!

    • You're tempting me to upgrade… argh. I wanted to skip a gen and wait for XM4 instead. I can't afford to buy a new pair every year. I'll have to do it every second year.

  • +6

now that they are out of stock , if you are in Perth just PM me and you can get them for $359

I work at a big box store so no probs with warranty

  • Good price.
These headphones simply kill jet engine noise when I used mine last weekend, and its tech features outshine the Bose.

  • Looks like the Gold version is back in stock along with the black.

    • Thanks! Have updated.

      • They look more like silver to me, personally

  • My 1000X (1st gen) are rock solid but I really want to experience the improvements of the M3.

    • Yeah same, I am holding off probably until M4 or when time proves M3 has no headphone crack issue. My 1000x has one crack on the headband, but otherwise works no problem at all and solidly.

      • +1

That's not the OzBargain spirit. I have the M2 and now M3. Pretty sure headband cracking issue only affected 1st gen.

        • Hahah I know I know, the price is very tempting. I will do more research, If no cracking issue since M2 is true, I will jump on the M3 train next month.

      • Mine must have been the V2 of the 1st Gen, because I do not have a single crack and have had them since Feb of 2017

Hey guys, anybody know why retailers in Australia have been pricing the XM3's as low as US$270 (AU$370 approx.) despite RRP at US$349 (AU$499)?

I have family in Japan that bought these for 43,000 JPY (AU$530 / US$380) and they couldn't find them for cheaper anywhere.

Also, in the US, all retailers are selling for around retail, the lowest price I've seen so far is about US$340 (excluding tax of maybe 10% depending on the state). In France, they retail for 380 euro (AU$615 / US$440) with absolutely zero options selling them for below RRP. In the UK they're going for £330 (AU$610 / US$430), also, absolutely no sales anywhere and they're completely sold out.

Why are Australian retailers putting 20-25% discounts on the XM3s whereas retailers overseas are selling them for RRP but still continue to sell out completely without even trying? What's going on?

    • Good question. I believe they want to sell them in large volume in order to receive any discount from Sony. Australia is a smaller market and so they have to sell cheap to reach that volume while in America and Japan, they don't have to. I have bought the mk2 a few months ago. I have yet to open and now I have purchased this because it is cheap.

      • +3

True OzBargainer… buy don’t use and then buy the upgraded model.

      • +3

For a change Aussies arent price gouged for being far away and with snaller market. Thanks Sony.

    • +1

From my experience… in Japan, new things go at super premium. They adore new things.
Old things go at super bargain. Dirty cheap for S/H. Hell yeah for shoppers like myself.

      I assume you can get a QC35II or M2 for $150?

      • Brand new QC35II? They're still about AU$450 at pretty much all retailers in Japan. XM2s are about AU$330-$350. Again, XM3s are around AU$520+.

        • I looked at kakaku.com and couldn't find price on them that matched yours (using 80yen = $1 exchange rate).

          Where are you looking?

          • @Jiv: I was checking on Rakuten.co.jp. I checked Kakaku for QC35IIs and they're all still clocking in at about 33000 jpy which is still AU$410+. Still pricey.

    • When I was travelling os last year to Malaysia, At most store prices for the Xm2 were premium prices. Didnt go to any discount areas, but airports and departments. Virtually RRp. Higher again when it was converted. Had to wait till I got back.

  • +1

Showing up for me as $461 from mobileciti. I think this be ozbargained :(

  • the $377 variants are now sold out, only the 400+ ones available until they're back in stock

  • Also find this headphone on David Jones @ $499. Wondering if we can price match to JBHIFI's $399 and then use 10% off gift card to make it $360.

    • Yes

  • Funny. The only people who think the QC35s are better are those who own them.
