you can get a knockoff for $14 delivered from Aliexpress.
Don't bother with knockoff controllers. Bought Wii remotes and gamecube controllers and there so many issues with them, its not worth it.
Doubt copies of any other controllers will be any better quality.
if you're not picky Logitech seems to work fine on ps3, but the center button doesn't work and it doesn't work for GT6, (I haven't tried the other GT games so far)
I got a knockoff from ebay it worked fine as if it was original but it always turned off after a few minutes if no buttons were pushed
if you want original, you could try searching the dual shock model number on ebay and buy 2nd hand

Also Gumtree and Facebook trading pages.I have seen the official ones in pawn shops for like $15 .
Could probably pick one up for $15 or even $10 on gumtree.
One way I have used, which you probably haven't considered .. Find a ps3 with more than 1 controller, on gumtree, send a message asking if they would sell 1 controller, make it an easy sale, ie say you can come and pick it up and buy now, or any time of their convenience, will especially work if they are selling a comsole with more than 2 controllers .
Note. CEX is a terrible option these days. I checked for you, they want $45 for a used controller, and only buy for $15 :/
CEX used to buy for a good price and sell for a good price. Now they have some market share, their pricing for seller or buyer is very poor. Just as bad as EB, and sometimes worse.
Just chiming in that I have a knockoff that doesn't feel as good as a genuine one, but it does the job. Another gripe I have with it is the fact that it dies so much quicker than a genuine one. If the price disparity were as huge as it was when I bought mine, I would probably still consider a knock-off. However, 2nd hand genuine ones are cheap now. And the usual wear is in the sticks which is quite easy to replace.

I wouldn't recommend it but supposedly you can use Android or iOS to control a PS3 using touchscreen.

I have read you can use standard Xbox 360 controllers on it too with no extra hardware. (Have to install PS3Xploit and run a plugin)
