Advertising/Marketing for an electrician

Hi all,

Jobs for my electrician father has dried up recently due to, I think, bad marketing. He doesn't quite understand the concept of spending (some) money to make money and all he does is advertise in the local Brisbane chinese newspaper.

He is vastly experienced, licensed, his work is excellent and his price is usually the lowest tendered. His phone should be ringing off the hook but it isn't and it pains me.

Off the top of my head, I think he needs a yellowpages listing. I used to have an ad on gumtree for him which I will resurrect and he has a site on trulocal. I have just found out about serviceseeking.com.au which seems to be a good site and I'm wondering if there are similar ones out there.

Can anyone help think of something either web based or physical that can help him out a bit more?

Sorry if this isn't posted in the right forum, mod please move as necessary.

print out ads and hand them out in letterboxes

    where are you located(suburb-wise)?

    web based

Ozbargain…make sure its an actual good deal though(what i mean by good is % and $ wise) , as if it is a good deal and your dad does a good job at it, he will have returning customers

We're on the bayside but he covers the whole of Brisbane really. We have tried both print outs and newspaper ads before but unfortunately they weren't very effective. It might be worth doing printouts for flood affected suburbs as there might be people needing help with rewiring.

Ozbargain is hard to do, most deals on there are goods based, rather than service based and us lot tend to expect a lot, for quite little.

remember though, there are other electricians willing to do jobs for flood-affected victims for free/close to nothing

REASON: Good service, means continuing customeres

  • We used Trulocal to find our electrician. He was really good and did what he said he would. Some were so crap they don't even call you back. That's the thing, if you find someone good you will stick to them like glue.
