Hi

Looking to go on a fodmap diet for a few weeks so interested where others think the best place to get fodmap specific items from would be.

Thanks

I found the prepackaged low fodmap foods from supermarkets quite expensive and not a huge range.
It's just easier and cheapwr to buy normal foods and avoid those with high fodmaps.
I used the univeristy of Monash app to find out which foods are allowed/fodmap free.
I think it cost $10 but is the most comprehensive resource (even has sepcific brands of foods rather than just the very high level generic lists available for free on the internet). It also states the quantity of each food you can have which is considered fodmap free i.e. for somethings a small amount is OK and a bigger portion not.
All the proceeds from app sales go back into the research to test more and more foods for fodmap levels.

    • Thanks. Yes got the app

Is fodmap the latest thing for hipsters and millennial mothers to be outraged about? The gluten free fad run its course already? Can’t wait to go to a restaurant and be offered up the selection of fodmap delights…

Low FODMAP diet is for people who suffer from IBS. I suppose there's nothing stopping hipsters and millennial mothers from going crazy for it, but there are legitimate reasons for this diet.

I don’t disagree with “legitimate” reasons. But like the umpteem mothers that I deal with on a daily basis who’s kids have made up allergies and not existent ailments, I just want to know if I’m going to start having to add this to the list of those…

Gonna go read up on it, because I know some 20 something year of soccer mum is going to come asking…

You don't need to go to a special store or buy special foods for a low fodmap diet - just avoid eating foods which are high in fodmaps. Coles and Woolies both sell all the proteins, carbs, fruit and veg you will need.
