Automatic Breakfast Machine

Does anyone have any idea for an automatic breakfast machine?

Is there a tool, or a device that with a flick of a switch (or voice activated) make a breakfast for me, while I'm taking shower.

What are your ideas to do this?

Of course it should be affordable and ozbargain.

Edit:
Solutions offered below from HighAndDry: Use delay setting in a microwave to heat up oatmeal.

    a toaster?

Good idea. I hate spreading the jam and butter though.

Maybe if I pre-spread them the night before, and then toast it.

      • have honey and squeeze it on

        • Not a bad idea

@[Deactivated]: You could cook 2 min noodles with the hot shower water, maybe a nice salad with the cold, or you could even make soup in the bathtub.

      • Pop Tarts?

        • Haven't had one, but it looks sugary unhealthy, so no for me.
          Thanks though.

      • If you're nice to them, the ants and roaches might leave some leftover by the time you get to the kitchen

    • Ah yes. I wish.

Put porridge/oats/raisins/water in the auto rice cooker then go have your shower.

    • oats as in Uncle Toby's oats? I didn't know rice cooker can do that. Does it work with milk?

      • Oats, as in the $1.60/kg variety from Colesworths, add water, heat them, remove, add yoghurt or milk and maybe some cinnamon or honey or nuts, put any left-overs in fridge, heat left-overs in microwave.

    Tefal egg and toast machine?

    • Hmm, interesting. Now just need to find one that is cheap.

    • Thing is I already got a nice toaster.
So I think I'll just look for egg-cooker.

    Define breakfast for you.

    • Usually I have oatmeal, or if I'm lazy Weetbix or cereal with milk (but don't like them in winter).
If I have time I would make some omelette or scrambled eggs.
Other than that then just toast and jam.

      If I'm late then just a banana-to-go or Up&Go.

      • while I'm taking shower

Do you also want it to be ready exactly when you get out of the shower, or do you not mind soggy oats/Weetbix/cereal or cold eggs/toast?

        • I don't mind cold toast/cold egg.
I do mind soggy cereal/Weetbix/cold oats. However they are very quick to prepare, so no need for automatic cereal maker (except oats).

    get a husband :P

    • Eyyyy! hahaha.

Believe me, I would! But the whole cock and balls thing is a deal breaker.

  • Microwave + microwave oats.

    • It requires stirring at halfway I think.

It's a hit and miss, I mainly hates it if it overboil and mess up my microwave.

Also it is cold by the time I finish shower.

      • +6

You've got a lotta standards for someone who's too lazy to spread jam on some toast lol.

Don't have to stir, put a cover over the bowl, and take shorter showers. Done.

        • +1

You are right, I just read the instructions again and it doesn't need stirring.

Maybe I should check if my microwave has delay start.

      • +1

Stand the bowl on a plate, so if it goes over the top it doesn't mess up the microwave.
You can just stick the whole mess into the dishwasher after you've eaten it.
But it does require attention halfway through, to turn from full power at the start until it comes to the boil, to putting it on minimum power to keep it cooking for a couple of minutes.

        • Microwaves can usually run different programs sequentially

  • Oats take like 2 minutes in the microwave, just put your shoes on or something whilst you wait? Or get a microwave that has a delay setting

  • Automatic pancake machine like at the hotels.

It has a bag of batter inside.. just press a button and good to go.

    • saw an automatic chapati and flatbread making machine on kickstarter. press the button and your on your way

      • I saw this one at Hilton Sydney. It doesn't taste as good as manual ones. But for my purpose it is good enough.
Too big though, probably not ozBargain.

        Edit: It's this one: https://popcake.com.au/

        • its amazing that you can taste that 'made by a machine taste' as compared to handmade. Probably the baking/heating technique. Ive seen these internationally too. I wonder if theyre hell to clean

  • Could use a pressure cooker for hard boiled eggs or porridge, or sous-vide bacon and eggs overnight (just need to flash in the pan ~10 secs when ready to eat).

    • I don't think I can afford the electricity of overnight sv every night.

Setup a Raspberry Pi remote camera on your water meter. Your shower will trigger a change to the meter - sending a signal from your Pi to your smartplug which turns on your primed kettle. Once the water meter stops moving, The other smart plug is triggered 5 minutes later, to turn on your primed toaster with bread.

    • Very creative. Thing is I don't want it to turn on every time I shower. (many people live in the house, I shower twice a day, etc).

And voice assistant is often great with smart plug.

The other problem is no smartplug able to turn on kettle/toaster/coffee machine (or am I wrong?)

  • I saw a post somewhere recently where someone used a slow cooker with the bacon rolled up and sausage standing up around the edge, eggs, beans, etc in cups in the middle to create a cooked breakfast on a timer. So you could search for posts/videos on that.

  • I don’t mind overnight oats just prep night before, loads of options, try :

Or you could make a toasted sandwich with say ham & cheese & stick it in the sandwich press with the plug on a timer to turn on in morning?!

  • Dr Emmett Brown already invented such a machine…

  • Just get a wife, OP. Just be prepared to keep inserting bank notes each day to keep the machine functional.

    • What makes you think my wife won't ask me to make breakfast for her?

  • Get an air fryer, there are definitely some cheap one, you put egg and sausage in it and toast on the toaster, put all on a plate when it ready, pour yourself some juice or coffee, a full breakfast done.

  • Instant oats. Boil the jug while you're in the shower. Pour water in oats when you get out. Oats ready

  • sounds like an excellent excuse for overengineering, which i support :)

However, if you were trying to be practical you would simply consider eating youghurt from a tub, or eating a breakfast cereal bar. Those are "ready-to-eat". Maybe you need a robot to open the door to your pantry as you walk up to it? :)

    • breakfast cereal bar

Too unhealthy. Gets boring after a while

  • I love the idea of specialization or compartmentalization and bringing it to cooking with a machine for each kind of dish assuming trying to do too many dishes at once will make many bad dishes as opposed to a perfect dish per appliance.

I have honestly toyed with the idea of having a pizza vending machine installed in my place and then getting the ingredients delivered and wala pizza any day or night might just cost a bit more because of energy costs and setup and infrastructure costs obviously but the convenience factor would be huge.. like basically having pre cooked food in your fridge on standby except one button and it is cooked no mess and maybe minimal maintenance once every few months or however long one person can exhaust one pizza vending machine haha lol just thinking about the idea is funny to me.

Would also love to invest in thickshake/milkshake automatic vending machine.. I mean we have automatic coffee/hot chocolate machines why not also have some of the cold variety :)

But honestly once we automate or simplify asian cuisine and have a machine or appliance do it for us from start to finish with minimal clean up.. we will have reached ultimate convenience kingdom.. one can dream.

Satay Chicken with rice noodle and special chili sauce or even just proper made Laksa at a push of a button.. yes please yes please :)
