      Will be the main computer (and hopefully also, only tablet) for my wife, who is currently staying at home with new baby.

      Will be used for photos (editing and organising) and hundreds of chrome tabs

    I picked up one of the XPS 9370 16GB i7 variants earlier this year and it's been fantastic.

    I would go for Surface Book or XPS. Don't worry about 2-in-1 its a BS;

        I have owned few of the 2-in-1s including DELL and HP spectre and can confirm they are a gimmick toy. If you are that desperate for a tablet go for Surface Pro.

          I'd agree with this. The only maybe useful mode is tent mode for movie consumption, but even then it generally wouldn't matter to much because the screen sizes are so small.

      2-in-1 are good for drawing (not as good as a dedicated tablet but still useful).

      Also maybe I'm biased cause my main computer has been a surface pro for the last 5 years or so, but I find it so much more natural to scroll with my finger on the screen than with a mouse or the touchpad.
