Small Laptop for Browsing/YouTube (Budget up to $400)

Hi,

Can you suggest me a small-factor laptop for browsing, watching movies, etc…
Doesn't have to be super-slim but easy to take around.

Initially looked at Dell inspiron 11 3000, but understood that new models coming with AMD CPUs don't get good reviews here anymore. So what could be a good alternative for that?

Thanks!

  • Does it have to be a laptop?
There would appear to be a few (android) tablets within that price range that might suit your needs.

I prefer to have keyboard attached without BT keyboards solutions.

Check out some of the budget Chinese ultrabooks. They fit your price range and are plenty good enough for your needs.
Both the Teclast F7 and Chuwi Lapbook SE are worth a google.

    Probably something like this

You'll want something with at least 4GB of ram and 64GB of some variations of flash storage (32GB of storage is way too small for windows 10).

Having a two in one laptop has it benefits where you can fold the keyboard away to watch a YouTube video

    Chromebooks.

As long as you don't need much local storage, or you have internet where you intend to use it.

    • Would also suggest this for your low usage needs.

    • Thanks! Will have a look at this option!

    • Not a fan of chromebooks generally, but for what OP needs it'll probably be the best option. Low end windows laptops are garbage.

  • My last cheap laptop got forcibly upgraded to Windows 10. It so can't handle it and can take 30 seconds to rename a folder. Don't go really low end with Windows 10.

    • I had a pleasant experience with previous generation of Dell Inspirion 11, which I bought for my mom in early 2017. It came with Windows 10 and did fine with most of the tasks I required.

  • Pick one from Dell outlet.
Also, Harvey Norman if you have saved in your AMEX.

  • Buy an older laptop from Gumtree which can have an SSD put in it.

I bought a Lenovo X220 for $150 a year ago, bought an SSD for $100 and it's still going great on Windows 10. Has an i5 processor, runs some very basic games on the inbuilt GPU, but we use it for light media consumption (it has poor viewing angles)
