Fitness Passport - Anyone used?

Hi, I was about to sign up to a pool and separate gym today but somehow stumbled on Fitness Passport. Your employer needs to allow it but it looks like $13 a week and gives you access like a normal member to all sorts of places.

Has anyone else signed up and what's your experience?

They're website is lacking information, especially a map of who is included.

I'm on it through the missus who is able to obtain it through NSW Health.

Fantastic list of gyms and pools, super affordable compared with other options.

First check if your employer is part of the Fitness Passport, you can't sign up as an individual if your work isn't participating.

    • Can you provide link to list of employers?

  • Council pools in my area are included on it - they're great and the passport is possibly the cheapest way for the family to get in to the pool, if you go regularly.

The private gyms in my area are average - they tend to be older gyms. There's a few 24 hour ones. There's a couple of fitness first's, but not the higher level ones. I thought it was gold, when an high end private gym on the list, but it didn't last long.

  • I'm a member too. It is less beneficial as an individual - if you add your partner/spouse/children then you can really rack up the savings. I have used it mostly at the swimming pool; it doesn't actually save me that much because the pool is relatively cheap, and I'm only going two or three times per week. However it does allow me to use all the other pools in the area, and many gyms as well. So if you like to go to a number of different places, the savings can be significant.
Also worth noting, the Fitness Passport gyms in my area include a mix of new and older, medium and large, though not many smaller gyms, and no crossfit or fit45 gyms. Several are open 24/7 and that access is also available. It does include yoga, pilates, spin, aerobics etc at my local gym which is probably the biggest saving I've only just started using.

Hmm - from memory, pricing was $13 for individual, $26 for family. Children under 21 are free … That's where the real savings are. I guess you could adopt some under 21's on gumtree/obz classifieds to help reduce the cost.

  • Been on it for 10+ years.

I change Gyms every 3 months, it's great. Also the Pools on the weekend with the family saves me $20 a day.

My whole family uses it, myself and wife for the gym and kids use it for boxing etc.

Yes your workplace has to be on it. We initially had to have 100 employees (NSW Gov) on it for our department to join.

  • I've used it for 3.5 years and love it.
I'm currently using the one from my previous public sector workplace.
Trying to get the current private sector employer to sign up, but they're focused on "larger, mainly public sector" employees.
Does anyone know a good alternative that is similar to/as good as Fitness Passport?

very old post but i'm currently doing the same - how long did it take for them to boot you off? im dreading the day they realise i'm no longer with my previous employer

      • Heya .. I'm just curious how often fitness pass (or if they even) check the status with your employee. I'm thinking about leave my current role and idea how long before the pass stops ?

  • Please be wary of joining FP. They have a 12 month contract which they don't highlight when you join (or didn't in my case). The gyms you can use tend to be very basic with few or no classes and in most cases there then can be costs on top. I ended up not using my membership at all and when I explained that and why I hadn't used it I was still told that they would charge me for cancelling early. Totally unreasonable. The email I got back looked like something a Bot would send - no element of human understanding whatsoever. I've been a member of various gyms for about 20 years the most any has asked for in terms of notice was one month. I cannot recommend FP to anyone it's just a substandard product and their attitude to members is poor at best. Avoid FP is my advice (like the plague).
