Hey,
Is anyone else having this issue and how did you fix it?
I've disabled adblock, I've added it to the filter list etc. Nothing seems to get it to work properly and my cashrewards don't get tracked.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

just download another browser (eg. firefox), don't install any adblock on it, and do your cashrewards shopping on that browser instead. saves you the hassle of turning on and off adblock on your main browser every time you use cashrewards.
I've added it to the filter list etc
You have added what?
You need to put a exception in for cashrewards and the site you're buying from.
Either disable adblock plus fully, make your purchase and the turn it back on or use a private browsing session with adblock disabled or another browser without adblock.
There have been reports of Adblock Plus' anti-adblock features being dodgy and still blocking affiliate networks despite turning the extension off. You'd be better off removing ABP all together considering they let companies pay to be whitelisted under their 'acceptable ads' program.
A more effective adblock is uBlock Origin as it blocks more, publishers won't take bribes to unblock ads, takes up less system memory while running and will actually disable properly if you turn it off.
I use uBlock in my Chrome session and have it disabled on Cashrewards, PayPal and all the sites I intend to shop at to get cashback. That as well as following the other steps required has never failed me.
Yes, uBlock Origin is far superior.
And if you're up for it, you can install uMatrix as well (I have both installed and uMatrix does 99% of my blocking). Requires a bit more knowledge about how websites are setup though.
incognito
I have found Cashrewards in the last few months is objecting to heaps of my Firefox add ons, not just ad blockers. It even gives me the you have an adblocker on message if I leave Kaspersky on. So I just turn all the add ons off till I finish the purchase. Trying to contact Cashrewards was of course migraine inducing futility.
Which addons are they complaining about? Kaspersky Internet Security for example has an adblock inbuilt as well as a private browsing feature that prevents tracking cookies. Cookies that are essential in tracking your purchase.
I have Kaspersky Total Security. I didn't have any issues like this on my old PC, let's see if disabling the Kaspersky add-on works.
That would do it. The addon should mention Private Browser and Anti-Banner in its options.
@Clear: Yup, disabling private browsing and anti-banner along with pausing AdBlock works.
Thank you :)
That could be the explanation. I will try turning off only Kaspersky and uBlock next time and see what happens.
'Cashrewards' is basically tracking software and spewing cookies all over the place. So yes I can see why its being blocked.
Personally I'll use another browser, so firefox is my main browser and I use chrome with the cashrewards extension for cash rewards. Is a bit annoying and finicky, but definitely useful to see the little green icon so I know it will track.
Simply pausing Adblock on all sites on Chrome has worked 100% of the time for me.
Download Google Chrome Canary, don't install any plugins except maybe the Cashrewards one, and do your purchases through there.
I use the stock Microsoft Edge browser on Windows 10 whenever I want to use affiliate links (eg. Cashrewards, Amazon etc.) This is not my day to day browser.
Yes my Partner has that same issue Windows 10 and Chrome, it does not matter if we are using an add blocker or not. Apart from installing a browser for only buying things using cash rewards it is futile to expect cash rewards to work. We use Bitdefender, not sure if there is an add blocker in there or not causing the issue. But I do know that white listing cash rewards or turning the add blockers we installed off do not fix the issue.
I do not have the same issue with my MAC, using Chrome and I have add blockers installed, I just disable it when I want to use cash rewards and it seems to work.
Some Bitdefender products include TrafficLight which is a browser addon that can block tracking cookies. Do you have that enabled? Another thing your partner could try is disabling Bitdefender before using CR to see if it tracks or not.
uBlock Origin is better than adBlock plus
use a portable browser like waterFox to go to sites that are blocked with add-ons on your usual browser
I setup a second user account in Chrome called Cash Rewards and set it up with Cash Rewards as the homepage and the 1Password extension so I can login to sites quickly and do all my purchasing from there. Also on my main Chrome account I use uBlock Origin instead of Adblock Plus, although it would also likely block things that might be used by the Cash Rewards tracking.
Just do your purchase through IE
