Purchased a chair at Officeworks ebay store yesterday, while at a physical store using the 5% off eBay code.
It took ages for the click & collect order to come to the store so I called them only to end up arguing with the woman on the phone who says ebay codes don’t work on their products.
I’m sure I’ve done this before. Who’s right please?

Why did the staff know/mention the Ebay code? They wouldn't have pulled it out of thin air, what'd you say?
Not sure it would. Wouldn't it just have the payment amount. If you check the ebay invoice it should be on that.
It does. You need to check the part where it says where the transaction is funded. Either way, there's no point in mentioning the Ebay code to office works staff, it's not a discount given at store level, they probably don't have a clue, it'll just confuse them.

So you used office works website or eBay's website?. If you used office works website site, how would an eBay code work on it?. If you used the eBay website, why didn't you type in the code at checkout to see if it worked.
What do you think an office works customer service do with an eBay code?.

Officeworks generally don't partake in the 10% or higher sitewide sales (see example here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/407506) so maybe that's why the woman was saying the 5% off code shouldn't have worked. Weird how she knew you used it though. Did you end up getting the item?
To clarify- purchase via ebay using P5OFF. When I called OW CS to find out how long until the store got my order, they could not understand why I had bought online, explained I used ebay & code as it was cheaper. OW records showed I paid full amount. My bank account confirms I paid discounted amount.

That's because eBay covers the discount, not OW. It'll show full amount on OW system. You were basically just arguing with a wall.
Really weird why OW are whinging. They get paid full amount by ebay anyways, so why the fuss. Man that lady really doesn't know whats going on.
I would have thought it would work as the ebay discout is an ebay cashback not from Officworks. If its a general ebay offer like pick5 it should work on the ebay office works site. Unless there are item exclusions which I dont know who sets those Ebay or Officeworks. Assume Ebay as they are giving the discount.
