"python" skills, know what I mean? Nudge nudge, wink wink…

cmon guys, don't be downvoting jokes… That aint cool, lol.

        • +1

          Sorry dad

        • lol, the joke finally got upvoted, but now they've downvoted me… Just can't win sometimes…

I really can't take "design patterns using python" seriously now, thanks

      Fake Consultancy.

I wonder if anyone actually pays full price for Udemy courses.

    • +2

I did for a few. But only when they are heavily discounted. Some of the good ones are never free.

pays full price…only when they are heavily discounted.

Just busting your chops. Can't help myself :)

        • +2

Well 'heavily discounted' is the full price a OzBargainer would pay!

          • @cozmo: Have you considered a career in politics? chuckle

          • +1

@cozmo: A true OzBargainer doesn't buy unless there is some sort of discount or value added to the product.

        • haha i guess i didn't read properly

    • I don't pay full price - but I do buy courses when they are on sale. Typically the best courses aren't offered free. Plus if you pay - you are more likely to complete the course.

Look at the course age of these free courses - often they only have 1 rating. So they are not tried and tested to actually deliver good learning. The maker of the course is trying to build traffic to get reviews and completions. Compare this to tried and tested courses that have 4+ stars over thousands of reviews… and you can often get access to this learning for $10.

      • This is why people overcharge. Perceived value is nil if they don't charge. Same goes for doing a friend a favour for free instead of mates rates. There's a very good chance you won't be treated with any respect. It's an aspect of human nature I hate. But it doesn't make the course better or worth any more than it would be if it were free.

    Nice, op

It says that I saved something along the lines of $1.5K!

  • I'm suffering through adding the coupon to each, but can someone smart embed the coupon into the links themselves for all the future python ozbargain gurus? < 3

    • Add all the courses to the cart and check-out twice (the cart won't accept all 14 courses at once). Don't know why you did the time consuming one-by-one method.

My phone defaulted to the app, which just opened the home page. I had to open a separate tab every time and didn't think about it - also note that there are a few extra courses not listed that the coupon also works with! Can't remember what, but all the same seller..

    • +11

For Udemy, The OP can include the coupon code in the URL by just adding ?couponCode=OCT_SPL to the end after the title.

I have updated all the links.

      Pete.

    thank you OP

    Thank you very much! :-)

adds to udemy swag of 980000 courses

    Great! Can't wait to start.

Jokes aside, great catch OP! (I've literally just made a coffee and started on the ESP8266 one. That's a big step considering how many courses I have in here)

If you want some quality free python (plus other) courses, you are better off with:
    https://www.edx.org/
    https://www.udacity.com/

edX are university level courses by some of the top universities or companies such as georgia tech and microsoft.
Udacity are courses co-created/endorsed by some of the top tech companies such as google and at&t.
    edX is my favourite.
Here is an example of a python series from microsoft. You can do courses for free and pay if you want a certificate
    https://www.edx.org/professional-certificate/microsoft-intro…

As a data engineer by trade, these courses will be great to explore some of my lesser known areas (Video Analytics looks crazy interesting). Thanks OP!

    • +1

quick question, whats the market rate for trade data engineer?

  • +1

    Good collection

  • great

  • Is there any benefit to learning coding if you don't plan on getting a job in that field? How would coding/programming benefit your everyday life or use of a computer? Asking genuinely

  • Thanks OP! I don't know when I would use them but I would like to some day and its a good resource to have.

  • Not much benefit I can have from these courses.

  • Who else had trouble following the Web dev installation instructions? Downloaded it and look nothing like his screen!

    • Hand your ozbargain card in. You're just supposed to collect udemy courses. not actually watch them ;)

  • A little off topic but can anyone recommend a good R programming course?
