Trade-in a Used PS4 DualShock 4 Controller for a New PS4 Controller (V2) for $39 @ EB Games

50

Hey guys, who ever missed on the previous $19 trade in deal (thanks dom01374) (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/408461?page=1#comment-6461…), EB-Games seems to have a new offer starting as from Today when I went in.

Deal: Trade-in a Used PS4 DualShock 4 (V1) Controller for a New PS4 Controller (V2) for $39 @ EB Games. Any $89.95 Version2 coloured controller is available to choose from. Unique colours such as midnight blue that are priced at $99.95 are not eligible for this promo. I think its up to the stores decision to charge you an extra $10.00 ($49.00) if you want the $99.95 priced controller.

Conditions from what I know
- In store only
- Needs to be the PS4 DualShock 4 version 1
- Cannot be an non-ps4 controller (xbox etc)
- Controller needs to be in normal wear and tear condition
- The sticker / barcode at the back can be rubbed off as mine rubbed off

Tips
- Call you local EBgames, when I called mine, the rep had to search their computer for the offer. When I went into store, no one knew about the promo. If the reps said its not valid, tell them to search for it.

Not as good as the $19 offer BUT….. EB games default trade in price for a PS4 V1 controller is $22.00!!

Edit: I don't know when the offer ends.

    why?

It's double the price of the previous deal a few days ago, why not…

    • $39 is damn cheap if someone needs a new controller like myself. I was happy to pay $39 as the other month I was about to pay $89.00 since I needed one asap.

Sure it's not $19.00 but $39 beats paying $67 which includes their default $22.00 trade in.

If you need a new controller, why not keep your old one? It has to be in normal condition, so it's not like you can trade in a thrashed piece of junk with the rubber all worn off the analogue sticks for a brand new one!

        • My touch pad in the middle was clicky in the sense you had to press down hard on it to activate the button and it made a click sound, I am assuming with use, the touch pad in the middle shifted making that click sound every time you pressed it. The rubber was a tiny bit freyed and the R1 button at the top was slightly hard to press. I told this to the rep and she was ok with it. It's not major faults to them. Hence I needed a new controller.

          • @hasher22: Fair enough :)

I assumed EB would want basically faultless controllers to sell

      • beats paying $67 which includes their default $22.00 trade in.

        $59 without a trade in…

Not as good as $20 obviously but still good way to palm of a dodgy controller. They might not look as closely…

It was $20 the other day

    What a rip

$39 should be without any trade in's, RIPOFF

    • Link to PS4 controller for $39 please

Haha, they realised they accidentally made a good deal the other day and are determined to sour gamers on EB again. Nice.

Can you price match the controller with JB, then use the newer trade in deal to still get it for like $20?

    • Worth a try! :D

  • Was planning on trading in an old controller, I have a 500 million limited edition controller on lay-by. This offer is perfect!

Yeahh narrr $39 and you lose 1 controller

  • This doesn't seem to be available in other stores. I've called and asked a few is this store specific and not national?

    • Don't think it's store specific as the rep over the phone said she needed to check the computer. Also when I went in, 2 reps didn't know about the promo and needed to search it up on the computer as I advised them I contacted them 40 minutes prior. So 3 reps in my local store had to search for the promo and said it was valid. Try again and tell them to search for the promo "on their computer". lol

  • I took mine into Charlestown yesterday. No signs up in store. Asked at the desk and the lady looked on the computer. She said yes the deal is still on.

I handed my old contoller over and expected she would pull up the rubber peeled away from the stick but she looked at it. Got it for $19.

    • My wife went to Glendale yesterday and they told her the deal finished on the 30th last month.

  • Managed to trade in my controller today at Hurstville and for the red one for $19. Guy there said it was over and I hesitated about doing it for a price and was going to walk out when he decided to help me out and honour the $19 deal.

  • They always have good deals on Limited Edition stuff, $223 for the Spider-Man console was pretty good, I can't find it but I swear I saw a "days of play" edition with two controllers for $179 after trade…

If you've thrashed your controller, it's still the cheapest way to get a new one if you can pull it off.

You gotta have some games to trade but you can trade anything
