  • Whose grass are you planning on cutting?

      Who’s asking?

      • Well…you’re secretly jealous. Just sayin’

    • So quiet your grass may have already been cut.

the Bosch battery powered mowers back in the amazon Europe deals heyday

Mines still going strong. That was such an epic deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/42540

Omg that’s it! 2011. The ozbargain glory days. I’m impressed that it’s still going too

    • Mine crapped itself last weekend so dont be too jealous…. They dont take kindly to palm fronds….

The only local stockist here (mitre 10) still want $699 for the current model which is much the same internals.

    • Don't use my one anymore, I really should gumtree it, as I moved to petrol mower (another OZB deal) … but I remember ordering it on a Friday and I was cutting the grass with it on Tuesday… those were the days.

  • how much for 2 battery? guess this come without battery

    • +2

The battery is 29.99 for 4Ah in the latest catalogue

  • this or Ozito?similar price when add up batteries and chargers

  • Aldi-Pro tip:

There are a bunch of batteries and chargers still around from the last power tool special a few months back.

If these use the same batteries as their other mowers and products (and so far all their products have), you can pick up a battery for about $19 and a charger for $14.

I saw some today in the clearance bins.

    • Saw some today, 2ah $20 & 4ah $30, charger $15.

    • +1

Just got the new catalogue and looks like Aldi have dropped the price of their batteries this time around:
Charger $14.99 ($5 cheaper than last time)
Battery 4AH 20V, $29.99 (was $39.99 last time it was available)

They don't seem to have any of the 2AH 20V batteries this time around.

    Whats the run time

    • +3

Probably about 5 minutes less than what you need.

  • How long does this battery last?

How long can i run the mower for?

Looking to buy one. Is it good ?

    THank you

  • +1

Is this really a 2x20V BRUSHLESS motor model?? Couldn't find any details online to confirm this.

Don't have the latest catalogue with me at the moment and Lasoo hasn't uploaded it either (only the 18 Sat one).

Heh I just brought the last of the Ozito 18V 4aH at my local Bunnings last night. Will return it and switch to this model if the above is true PLUS if the batteries are $30 each and charger is $15. That's $274.00 in total.

Compared to Ozito's 18Vx2 steel deck brushless motor model, it would cost $349+$29x2 (4ah)+$30 for fast charger = $437

Of course, the Ozito's model do looks more "premium" looking than the the presumably plastic model from Aldi.

    • +2

Picture from catalogue from the other deal post.

Price for Aldi mower plus 2 batteries and 2 chargers would be $269 by my calculations.

      • Oh nice, thanks for the link!

Based on the cutting width of 370 mm, it's certainly better than Ozito's 18V brushless model with 300 mm but less than the Ozito's 2x18V brushless model at 470 mm cutting width.

Should be perfect for me. I was looking to get the Ozito's 18V one but was concern with its power, and the next model is just overkill for my yard size.

  • Mmmmmmm… Ozito steel deck or Aldi's plastic?

    • +1

Ozito steel deck is $349 skin only. Having looked at it today it looks greatly more substantial than the lower grade plastic ones.

  • Hi guys

Really interested to jump on this. Just wondering if anyone know where we can get replacement blades for these. Also are there any other replacement maintenance parts that we have to worry about?

Also is it only the bigger stores that stock these or basically any Aldi?

    • Any ALDI would have it.

      • What size blades for replacement? Do bunnings sell them ?

        • +2

Just sharpen them. I've never replaced the blade on my 2011 Bosch Li mower. Sharpened about 5 times so far. And I abuse the absolute hell out of this mower and blade.

  • In Melbourne, the Forest Hill store didn't have them, but there were quite a few at the Burwood store

    • There were 2 when I was there around 9:30am.

  • Sold out here in Newcastle

  • Would be great to hear some feedback on how these are from anyone that picked one up. If good i'll look out for the deal again next year.

Snagged one yesterday - last one at my local store (Bentleigh VIC).

Luckily mine's not warped or anything (bad luck @kator). Only weirdness putting it together was that the compression flappy handles which are supposed to flip down to make folding the main mower handlebar easy won't fold (simply not enough bolt length). Minor issue though - can still fold handlebar by turning wingnuts. Other than that, assembly was a piece of cake. Very similar to old Ryobi I had a while back.

In terms of function it's surprisingly good. It choked a bit on some thick grass in front of our place which was really wet, but made short work of dry nature strip. Blissful after using a push mower for years - more effective on long wiry grass too.

I would say if you have thick Buffalo or similar grass and lots of it, you might want something with more grunt (eg 56v or even 80v models), but 40v gets the job done for my regular suburban house + big corner nature strips. Doing both took about 50% battery this morning (and 20% was used up doing a few aq m of wet lawn). Having a percentage indicator on each batter, plus a 4-bar overall readout on the mower's handlebar, is really handy. I thought 370mm blade and plastic deck might be a bit dinky, but I think it's a good balance now - makes it easy to get up stairs, around corners/roots etc. Seems pretty robust to me. Not like 300mm Ozito…

Only outstanding issue is it has a weird hanging hook thing - looks like a hair tie hanging down from the middle bar with a little v of metal at end. I have seen catcher hangers in similar location on other mowers, but this one doesn't have anywhere on the catcher to attach. Manual doesn't mention it either. Anyone else know what it's for?

      Happy to answer further Qs.

      • Haha, I will echo the points about not enough bolt length on the bar handlebar, and having no idea what the weird hanging hook thing is either!

Hi Mate, I think I saw you in Bentleigh. I bought the one just before the last one.

Anyways, agree, easy to assemble, except that handle bar thingy you described, ended up taking the spring off and worked fine without it. Seems a robust unit, I had bought a Ryobi from Bunnings last week 18V 5 Ah battery and that was too under powered for $299, so this was a way better deal. Not any more shabby than the Ryobi, seems equally well put together for a lower a price. Ryobi also smaller cutting width and smaller catcher. Ryobi was a lot lighter too. This unit is not heavy but not on the light side which I like.

However, alas I returned mine to the store the same day. I have Sir Walter buffalo, not overgrown. A thickish grass but so not too thick, so in the middle, but the mower did not cut the grass cleanly, would say it frayed at least 60% of the grass blades. I like a nice clean cut. It must be that the torque is not powerful enough. the grass was dry and normal length needing a cut so no excuses from the mower. I probably need more a more grunty unit (probably 80V model) or have to stick to a petrol to get a clean cut.

So definitely recommend them for someone with medium size yards (this unit can probably do 200 sqm easily), not too fussy on how the grass cuts, so long as it cuts.

P.S I also bought and returned the Whipper snipper unit for $59.95. Don't buy it as is way too under powered and butchers the edges of your lawn if you try to use it as an edger. I would doubt it would be any use anywhere else either.

        • Interesting. I suspect I'm not as fussy with the cutting ;)

Can recommend Ryobi 36v whipper snipper. IMHO they all suck for edging (you need a dedicated edger - we did our nature strip on the weekend and it was a bugger of a job with a manual one, but I digress). However, the Ryobi works a treat on my weeds and grass around tree trunks etc. Seems fairly powerful.

Annoying having different batteries for everything, but Ryobi 36v mower was too much for me.

      • I think I know what your problem is with the bolt length (I had the same problem). The spring sits in the middle of the two handles.

It goes Bolt - Handle - Spring - Handle - Nut.

        • Hmm will try that thanks.

  • I bought one today. I will need to take it back tomorrow as the whole mower is bent, the front left wheel is in the air. Not stable on the concrete floor you push it and it wobbles. Cant see the issue, other than the plastic is bent.

    Anybody had this problem??

The Ozito 1x18v looked like a kid`s toy. I think I need to keep my Ozito corded mower, it is great and stable, just hard to deal with 10m of cables.

  • +1

    Brought one on Sat.

    Pro:
    - Easy to assemble.
    - Easy to start.
    - Very light. I can carry the mower down stair by one hand.

While I am waiting for the two new 4AH battery to charge, I manage to mow my lawn with two old 2AH batteries. Very happy.
Don't think I will use my two strokes VICTA anymore.

    Con:
Make of plastic. Doesn't look very durable.

  • Are these available still?

    • It really depends on your local Aldi and if they have them in stock. Just drop in and check, you might get lucky.

      • Can ALDI HQ check stock levels? I called up and they said not stock anywhere
