I was googling for this today and saw Harvey Norman is selling it.
At well more than double the price for not much actual improvement.
Swim-proof and improved battery life are the main differences. Swim-proof makes a big difference to me so I'm holding off for the Charge 3 which hopefully will drop in price after it's been available for a while. You're right though, if swim isn't important to you then Charge 2 is a bargain.
My 2 cents for anyone who wants to buy this: Please buy an aftermarket band!
I went through 3 bands in less than 8 months under warranty and got frustrated with it and sent it back!
Had the same issue with the first gen fitbit charge!
The band peeling is a common issue that has put me off from buying Fitbits. But a great fitness tracker.
