Things to do in Taiwan - Taichung at late arvo/night

Hi everyone,

this is my first post on OzBargain after years being a lurker :D

I'll be heading over to Taiwan - Taichung at the end of November/early December for two weeks to study at National Taiwan University of Sport. 'cause I'm at the university for about 6 hours~ Monday-Friday I won't be able to do anything during the day. However, afterwards I'm free to do anything I want

would anyone have any personal experience travelling around Taichung and recommend me to check out some places I'm totally down to anything from places to eat/shop/sight see etc etc

I'm down to any recommendations

    Just came back from Taiwan yesterday & spent a day in Taichung.

    That would be a great time to visit night markets. Fengjia Night Market for example, one of the biggest in Taichung. For the area near NTUoS there are also night markets around (Yizhong Street Night Market). Do check out their opening dates as they only open certain days of the week.

    Eating is without a doubt the main after-dark attraction! Hopefully you're staying somewhere convenient. Public transport is reasonably good in Taichung, and taxis aren't terribly expensive. Sometimes there are concerts in Taichung Park, though less likely in the colder months when you're there.

    Excellent nature sightseeing that you could do on weekends outside Taichung.
