Peanuts cost more than the vegetable oil and sugar that some other brands mix with their peanut butter.

Try it and taste the difference. Dick Smith peanut butter was pretty good too.
Keep buying Bega mate which only has 85% nuts and contains antioxidant 320, which is banned in infant food and a known carcinogen.
I always find Sanitarium peanut butter is a good alternative. 500g for just $4.

@ihbh: Picked up the Sanitarium 100% peanut at Coles yesterday for $3 (375g) - from memory it was 30% off.
Still cheaper than this deal.@autocader: Hmmm, true…but peanut source aside, the nutritional value of Sanitarium is superior in terms of protein, saturated fat, carbohydrate, sugars and sodium. Just saying =)

Mayvers Dark Roast is the best, and good enough that I'll pay full price if I run out. But if you're less stuck in your ways than me then this is the second best PB imo.
I hear ya. Last roud Mayvers was half price I went and tried everything, crunch, smooth, dark, protein + coconut, protein + super seeds, etc etc. All are so yummy, Dark Roast is best tasting but I like the Protein ones it makes me feel less guilty.
seems a little counterproductive to ship the nuts from kingaroy to NZ to then send them back…. why not just have an aussie warehouse?

Choice ran a blind tasting of various peanut butter brands and Pic's came last! Mayvers was 3rd last!! I wonder why both of these are so popular on ozbargain.
PS: mayvers dark roast is my favourite too so I'm disappointed that the masses don't agree with my taste :(
