Same deal that Centrecom and Orange IT had a few weeks back…

Pretty good deal for kids/lower requirement users that may otherwise have bought a netbook.

Quite a few places with same/cheaper price. Good value lappy for $399 and probably more convenient for west-coast folk.

Friends don't let friends buy celeron.
Also any company that makes you use facebook to get a special is not deserving of my business.

Agreed - and there are terms and conditions with regards to competitions many people aren't aware of. http://www.simplyzesty.com/facebook/facebook-competition-rul…

    • similarly with Catchoftheday.com and Scoopon, there are exclusive deals which ONLY facebook users can get if they are a 'follower' , dont know why there are some minority against this tactic. its about spreading the word and facebook/twitter/myspace is a good tool to do that.

For the same price ppl can actually get a bigger screen, watch dvd movies, and able to multitask better than a netbook. hence its a bargain.

For this particular deal, I think the deal is alright for an outdated technology. However for other items that they sell, their prices are actually quite inflated. But their pre-sale service is better than other computer shops in WA.

  • Don't ignore the "64-bit" Win 7 Home Premium…

I'm told (by DigitalStar) that only 64-bit Win 7's can access the full 8 GB RAM, that this computer can hold.

This deal saves you ~$100 Win 7 upgrade to 64-bit, ie, if you'll even needed that much RAM.

Dunno if having 64-bit Win 7 under the bonnet means you'll sometimes have to re-purchase or upgrade S/W you've bought earlier. (Any examples…?)

Also, there's a subtle, extra-cost, ie, the FaceBook "gotta like it, -before- you try it" & that makes me think I -don't- like it as much as I would if I could just pay in cash…

Makes me wonder if the vendor had/has a dim reputation, & is willing to settle for a cheap repu'-boost from a lot of false likinge…

For me, liking a -deal- isn't enough to like a vendor; again, YMMV ;-)

    YMMV :-)
