  • How much is the Shiromaru Motoaji and Akamaru Shinaji Ramen normally?

    • +2

$15 for the Shiromaru and I think $17 for the Akamaru

You can also wear the Shiromaru and Akamaru ramen as T-shirts

      • +1

        $16 for the Akamaru

Do you go to Ippundo often? Which ramen do you recommend? There are so many to choose from.

I kinda find its a rip off paying $2 more for an extra egg.

        • Shimomaru with the spicy miso paste…delicious. :)

          • +1

@JohnHowardsEyebrows: I find that it's a total rip off having to pay $2 more for an egg

            • +3

              @Homr: That's why I bring my own.

        • I actually went there twice in the last two weeks.

I can't remember the first one I had, but the second one i had was number 5 - Akamaru Shinaji. I definitely thought it was the better one of the two.

        • I used to go there often when I worked nearby, to the point where the staff at their offshoot restaurant Gogyo in Surry Hills recognised me haha.

I personally find the Karaka Men not spicy enough for my liking, so what I do is order the Shiromaru and spike it with a lot of chilli oil. If you haven't been to Ippudo before, definitely try the Shiromaru first, then you can try the other ones next time you visit :)

          • @kerfuffle: is the extra $5 worth it for the extra chasu? You get the pork belly anyway for the normal $15

            SHIROMARU CHASHU $20

            • @Homr: Nah; I've had better chashu elsewhere. I'd rather pay for an egg

              • @kerfuffle: $2 for an egg? u sure?

                • @Homr: $2 is standard for most ramen joints

                  • +1

@kerfuffle: fair enough, i'll save $2 and just get the standard one :D

Paying $8 for the "special" doesn't seem to be good value either, you agree??

                    • +1

@Homr: Well your egg is $2, your chashu is $5, so you're paying $1 for the rest of the ingredients …

  • +4

Sydney westfield Ippudo is a sh*tshow most days of the week … I'd hate to see what it's like when they're having a sale!

    • +2

Truth; I used to go there for my lunch breaks when I worked nearby and half the time, at 12:05 p.m. I'd have to queue to get in …

  • +1

There's a line almost every day during meal times at the Ippudo downstairs from my place at the normal prices. For $10, I doubt I'd even be able to get a seat!

    • +1

If it's just downstairs, why not just go eat outside of the peak times

      • I'm usually at work during the non-peak times.

  • Any in QLD?

    • +1

No; NSW, Victoria and WA only (or basically metropolitan Sydney, Melbourne CBD and Perth CBD)

  • -4

This is still more expensive than the price in Japan…

    • Because we are not in Japan? Are you also complaining that we are paying more for a Pho than ones in Vietnam?

      • +3

        Pho sure he is.

    • …..that's like comparing the price of strawberry here vs price in japan

    • Actually this is false. Shiromaru is 1050Y which is roughly $13.50.

  • Forget getting a seat….

  • All my family members love noodles :)

  • Do they offer take away?

  • Anyone at the Sydney Westfield store? How's the line? Is it even worth trying?

  • Line isn't too bad

  • +1

    How's the line at QV?

    • About 100+ deep right now

      • Holy cow. Is their ramen even that good?

        • As a fellow Sydneysider, there's better places.

          • @kerfuffle: Tried the ramen when it wasnt as busy. Quite okay. I prefer menya or gumshara

            • @Jared17: I like Yasaka, Ramen Zundo, Ryo's and Ichiban Boshi myself

    • Currently ginormous…..

    • Managed to get in at 4pm without a wait.
