You can get Platinum HD for $89/month if you call them up and threaten to cancel.
Which is what they will probably offer you after the 2 months is up and decide to cancel.
Can anyone with the 4k package comment on the quality? Worth the upgrade?
This might help

- Just a heads up for sport lovers….Telstra have a deal atm which has the sport package for $29 p/m with a $100 install fee, which is much more sensible pricing. As usual they tens to mess up the installation, so you ring and complain loudly and they will waive the installation fee. New 4K box as well so FTA can be watched and recorded.

Telstra has far better deals than Foxtel direct as a new subscriber, providing that you are willing to lock in for 12 months.
+$10 for HD
Ring outside their office hours and leave a detailed message about what you’re interested in, and ask for them to return your call.
When they call you back go through the full offer in detail. If they quote the same installation fee as above express some doubts - the operator will have the option of discounting the install fee for you to $50. Same terms as OP otherwise.
I went through the sign up process (entered my number) but didn’t complete the application. Had a phone call from them the next day. They offered to waive $75 from the upfront payment for me
I was asked to pay $125 for the professional installation for IQ4 - I asked nicely to waive it and it was waived. Also was able to get sports + entertainment for $29 (next 12 months) without much haggling. Telstra with Foxtel connection existing client
Just in time for the end of the footy season!
I wonder if they'l screen dramas in 4K anytime soon?
So two months of Foxtel all for the price of a year of Netflix, then pay one year of Netflix every month.
After one year of Foxtel, you've paid for 11 years of Netflix..
wow bargain…
It's essentially $62.5 a month for 2 months for Platinum HD package with install.
The standard price for Platinum HD is $139/m, the cheapest some get it is $89/m.Netflix doesn't offer the same shows so it's hard to compare the two, eg Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, sports etc.
Its up to people to assess whether it's something that suits them for content vs cost, they might want the satellite to split foxtel with someone else. I dunno. It's cheaper than usual, so I'm sharing.
Please tell me where live AFL NRL and cricket is on netflix??
I watch heaps less telly since I got Foxtel. I dont like tv guide menu thingy and couldnt be bothered scrolling through everything.
I do like f1, my only regular viewing. I'll probably end up cancelling fox end of season and subscribing to Rob's tv again for f1.
Is the IQ4 actually included or does it have to be returned when you cancel?
Returned I think
Yep
You don't own the equipment, you have to return it after cancelling. You can however keep a very basic version of Foxtel for $10 a month via their cancellations department.

I've got the IQ3 from earlier in the year on that sports HD for $39 per month deal.
With football season over, I phoned up and got them to switch me across to the Docos and Dramas packages. The content on these packs is ok, but the advertisements are unacceptable.
They literally synchronize all the channels so that the advertisements run concurrently no matter what channel in the pack you are watching.
It is infuriating, particularly given many of the ads are just filler.Hence live viewing of these channels feels like it is is filled with advertisements every 7-10 minutes.
At least with the live sport channels, the advertisements are minimal, or at times in the broadcast you are not particularly concerned - i.e. breaks in play.
If you are buying foxtel for packs other than sport, you will want to record everything to disk and watch the recordings - that way at least you can skip through the ads.
but the advertisements are unacceptable.
which ones do you take offence to?
No offence, simply unacceptable. Two business models. Watch for free, watch ads. Pay for content, watch content. Foxtel seems to think you should pay and watch ads.
Foxtel seems to think you should pay and watch ads.
The ads are usually in between different shows, not during them.
Cheap introductory deals. In all cases they are designed to lead to expensive ongoing costs for a product you wouldn't want unless you had been told you want it.
I got both Foxtel and Netflix. Both have their pros and cons. Foxtel is great, so is Netflix; both are good but in different ways.
Foxtel even with IQ is frustrating - How can you pay a premium for content and still get in-house adverts shoved down ya gob every bloody 8 minutes.
Every time you'll be in the middle of an excellent show and then you're met with an elevated sound of some sh*tty show Foxtel wants to promote.
it's a joke and anyone paying that massive price without exploring alternatives that are low cost/high quality shouldn't bother with ozbargain - there are so many better options here guys. I can't see this as a bargain or remotely attractive to households with that considered.
Mod: Foul Language Are there still people around that ay $139 monthly for this crap?
