GearBest Offers 1 Year Warranty but Really after The 45 Days Period Is over, They Can Claim That The Product Cannot Be Repaired

I purchased the Xiaomi Mi Laser 5000 ANSI Lumens Ultra Short Throw projector from GearBest.

After a couple of months of use I noticed 2 dead pixels and opened up a support ticket with them. They offered the option to send it back at my cost for repairs.

Long story short, the 1 year warranty is only in name.. they say they will replace within first 45 days.. after which they -can- say the unit cannot be repaired and simply offer a store credit less than half of the original price tag.

I just want to warn you guys that this could happen to you. It is possible that your warranty is really effective reduced to 45 days and even then who knows how long they will take to send a replacement.

    • its ok i didnt expect everyone to read it.. but for transparency sake I included it all. even including my rants because i think i was justly pissed off. if you read from about the middle where they told me that the repair was not possible then offered a really bad compensation.. their compensation got better and better as I complained more.. I marked with ***** the part where I started getting angry or search "No that is not acceptable"

    • hey they went from 700USD to 1000USD to 1200USD compensation.. to send us 300USD and we will send you a new one… still not acceptable.. but just shows their attitude in customer service from the beginning. fight fire with fire.

              They just upped the compensation to 1400 USD today after complaining to them where my replacement unit is.

              certainly overall if i hadnt made a fuss and accepted 700 USD compensation. That would have been the least effective option.

        You're corresponding with a company, whose support staff wont have English as their first language.

        Learn to write your complaints in short, easily understandable sentences/dot points, without using language or slang or abbreviations. (its a good rule regardless of the support staffs location…. no one wants to read a paragraph of garbage when you could spell out the same request in a single simple sentence)

        Guaranteed you'll get a way better end result than the garbage you posted.

          I can undertand your point. But after having waited a month for "repairs" they "update" me only after I follow up after the month period. I have obviously waited patiently and hoping to get a repaired unit back.. to be given a 700USD compensation.. excuse me for getting furious.. as that is the worst customer service i have experienced EVER. I think most people totally understand my fury. I have receioved personal messages with those sentiments already. I was cordial upto that point when they claimed the unit cannot be repaired. Notice how they won't mention why they didnt give me to option to simply send my original unit back.. they obvously broke it while trying to fix it.. i mentioned it to them 3-4 times and they stay silent on my original unit. I am cordial to a point.. when I know I am getting screwed over I wont stay cordial and I am sorry that you dont share my sentiment but many many do.

I send it in to get repaired… and this shit happens.. am i supposed to keep calm over a $2600 projector?

    it is reasonable to assume they have attempted repair and broke the product. they are totally silent about my original unit after i mention it 3-4 times.

      • If I didn't accept their refund who knows how much longer I would have had to wait. Just wanted the saga to end.

        Actually the original card I used was closed by my bank.. and no longer linked to my PayPal account. So now I have to negotiate for them to send it directly to my PayPal balance instead.

        • If you paid using paypal, they wouldnt have your card details, they'd just send the money to the same paypal account you paid with.
          Then itll go into the balance if you dont have anything linked.

      • haha they keep saying how sorry they are for screwing me over for months.. its not unreasonable to hope that they place me on a higher priority level to appease for this underwhelming level of customer service.

    This certainly puts some caution in me to purchase an expensive Xiaomi laser projector which by the way I was actually looking at recently, let alone purchase from Gearbest too! Gee their 1 year warranty terms are so misleading!
