another solid deal on the xbox one x!

  • Nice one, been waiting for a good deal on the X, decisions to make is do I trade in my old Xbox One with games and buy the X for $250 or do I use my 5 x Vouchers and get this one for $489…argh decisions! What you think guys?!

    • Where do you trade in your old one?

      • EB Games stores

      • They quoted me $130 for my 500gb xbox one s the other day at EB.
There is a promotion where they give you more if you trade it in with 2 games, can't remember how much though.

    • I'm guessing you'll have no use for the old xbone after getting an x so may as well trade it.
You could probably get more selling it on gumtree/ebay but it means you have to jump through those hoops, and it may take some time.

So many X Box One deals, so few PS4 Pro deals :(

    • -2

Get the superior console that will get the superior version of Red Dead Redemption 2. :)

please don't start this pointless console war

Anyway if any of you are undecided on which console to get please do your own research. Playstation platform has a lot more exclusive AAA title than XBox, Switch is basically its own thing (and a lot of my PC gamer friends own Switches as it is not trying to compete with the others and it is the only console where you can play Zelda BOTW and Mario Odyssey) and XBox one X is the only one that can play 4K Bluray (a weird decision by Sony here). Add the Playstation VR and you really need to do your own research and list the Pros (no pun intended) and Cons yourself.

Disclaimer: For current gen I own a PS4 Pro (Spiderman alone is worth it), Switch and a PC running GTX 1070.

If the PS4 Pro played 4k bluray i'd buy one, but can't do it while i'd need something else to fill the gap anyway.

          • +6

@kulprit: Also, Xbox supports Atmos gaming and Netflix.

            • +1

@Brakko: Still want to play God of war though. Just hoping the PS4 is backwards compatible. I'm in no rush

              • -7

@kulprit: Backward compatibility is just another Xbox One fan boy comment. So many current gen games worth playing. I don't enjoy playing XB360 games on XB1X on 4K TV (hardly ever do that). Even the PS4 remastered games, I don't enjoy them either (that includes TLOU (part 1), GoW 3). Remaster is fine (Shadow of Colossus (PS4), Gears of War - Ultimate Edition (XB1)).

You buy current gen consoles to play current gen games.

                • +2

@netsurfer: I don't own an Xbox one either. Just don't want to buy a PS4 now, and want to eventually play God of War and Spiderman.

                • +1

@netsurfer: I'd hardly call that a fanboy comment. Just because BC means nothing to you, doesn't make it a useless feature. 3 generations of games all on one console is a huge deal. They all play at better frame rates on the X (even on the base system). Not to mention some of those games have been upgraded to 4K for FREE on the X (Red Dead Redemption, Forza Horizon, Gears of War 2 & 3, Fable Anniversary to name a few).

Meanwhile, the PlayStation Classis is being released for $150. I'm sure many would prefer it if the games on that were just playable on the PS4.

          • +2

@kulprit: Honestly, this 4K blu-ray support excuse is kind of okay if you go for XBox One S. Reality is, if you actually have a proper 4K HDR setup, then:

            • You can afford both Sony PS4 Pro and XBox One X
            • UHD BD playback on XB1S/XB1X ideally still needs a remote control (using the controller, while doable, isn't the best way to watch a movie) - I use a logitech remote.
            • Most of the UHD BD movies are NOT from true 4K source. The discs are more expensive and honestly, the movies aren't THAT GREAT that the limited improvement from 4K (even with HDR) isn't going to make a difference. With a load of games yet to play, I simply only watch a movie once. I struggle to find UHD movies worth buying.

I own both consoles. I enjoy exclusives from both camps. Why limit yourself to one camp?

It comes down to whether there are exclusives you like for the consoles. Forza Horizon 4 is fantastic. God of War is fantastic too.

        • +3

The one X is a better buy, the system is 50% more powerful, you get BC support, it doesn't sound like dyson when playing games, you have gamepass which is excellent value.

          I own a PS4 pro, a switch, Xbox one X, HTPC with a GTX 1080, PC with a GTX 1080Ti.

Flat out in my opinion it's the best system to play games on considering the amazing power/performance/noise ratio.

I have 2 kids who are spoiled with choice and they spend more time on the X than the other systems.

At this price with those games, it's a no brainer. You get the best racing games money can buy in true 4k and the best AC in years with superior textures/resolution(see DF latest comparison).

          • +2

@neomoz: Since you own all those, honestly, a lot of games would play best on the 1080Ti. There is no competition when it comes to graphics power.

It really depends on the games, even for children. You probably have older children. For some reason, children in my household prefer PS4 (and to be honest, the children in this household don't look at whether it is XB1X or PS4 Pro). While I much prefer playing FH4/FH3, the children want GT Sport (partially due to motion sensor in the DS4 - again, personally, I prefer XB1 controller). FH4/FH3 - even on easy, is too hard for them. Most PS4 exclusives are well liked.

GamePass is great for most people, but average for me because (1) a lot of the must play XB1 titles, I bought them (so it feels like Microsoft keeps on adding games I own to GamePass) (2) it led me to play games which I wouldn't play if they weren't on GamePass. Honestly, I only start to feel it is worth it now Forza Horizon 4 is released (AND because I've got a heavy discount - I doubt I would enjoy it paying $10/month). I basically joined late last year for 1 month ($1) - played a few games, then stopped. FH4 made me re-join.

Better buy is questionable, especially for someone with a high end PC. Also, I found that I bought too many games due to wanting to experience "XBox One X enhanced" and ended up being disappointed. AC:Origins - it's not a game for me, bought, played a while, got bored quickly, sold it at a loss. Again, the game is best played on …… PC. DF hyped up that game too much for me unfortunately (the graphics did not wow me on XB1X).

Honestly, both consoles are okay. Can't match the PC. If all versions of the same game is the same price to me, I would pick the PC version. No point hyping up XB1X too much, it has essentially a RX580 equivalent, MS didn't optimise the OS well enough for XB1X and it uses single app/game system. The load time of FH4 is getting a bit annoying to me I am thinking about using an SSD on XB1X.

            • @netsurfer: You put a 1080 in an htpc? But why?

              • @TruckTrespass: I upgraded to a 1080Ti from a 1080, my HTPC ended up inheriting components from a desktop upgrade, I figured the 1080 could go in there and do 4k HDR playback(madvr) and play some of my steam collection on the big screen.

I had issues with media boxes playing back 4k hdr atmos content, madvr plays them flawlessly at the best quality possible.

            • @netsurfer: To add to this: All the latest xbox exclusives are play anywhere now. If you have a gaming pc, then forza horizon 4 will be best played on the pc for raw power (HDR and atmos is still a bit of a mess on pc). I recently setup nvidia gamestream on the Nvidia shield and it works perfectly. I just finished the witcher 3 and look to play some of the other "couch friendly" games on my tv. In my opinion the most ideal setup is a hardwired gigabit network. Gaming computer with whatever specs you can afford. Monitor with keyboard and mouse for fps/rts. Nvidia shield for gamestream and android tv. Then a nintendo switch and/or ps4 for your preference of exclusives.

              • @Truk22: If….if…..that’s the important word. I don’t having a gaming PC. I have a small laptop for work. The PC argument is irrelevant if you don’t have (or want) a gaming PC.

            • @netsurfer: I own a 1080ti and Xbox one X but much rather play on my 55" oled tv than my pc monitor (don't even bother saying use my pc on my tv) honestly can't really compare a PC to a gaming console they're both different and the Xbox one X is the most powerful console out right now and is the only one that is pushing true 4K most of the time so it IS the best to play when comparing CONSOLES ONLY. Smart idea would be buy a standard PS4 for their exclusives, Xbox one X for third party games and MS exclusives and a Nintendo switch for all their goodness. People seem to forget consoles are for casual gamers usually too so they don't own a gaming system let alone know how to build one or know what is best at least with the Xbox one X you know its the best you can get.

            • +1

@netsurfer: My 1080Ti cost me $1250 alone, PC gaming is expensive and to be honest the bang for the buck just isn't there, a one X at $550 does an amazing job at 4k with very little fuss. AC Odyssey on PC runs terrible at 4k, much easier to just play it on the one X and trade it in when I'm done.

I float between PC/Console, lately this year the consoles have been seeing more exclusives and RDR2 being console only is a hard pill to swallow, also with nvidia asking a kidney for their 2080 series for 30% more performance, it's getting even worse for PC gamers.

Thanks to these deals I just picked up another one X, which will be great to play RDR2 in the Study on my 43inch 4k monitor when the kids are hogging the TV. ;)

              • @neomoz: XBox One X is currently the most powerful console, but the true 4K statement is honestly not true. Newer games are using dynamic resolutions (not true 4K) and they are not running at PC's equivalent of Ultra settings. AC: Odyssey - most common resolution on XB1X is 3072x1728 (source: digital foundry) - you want to call it true 4K?

RDR 2 is the only thing people can say about console advantage. How about PUBG? How about Fortnite (where you must have XB Live Gold to play).

Don't get me wrong, I REALLY want to find good / true reasons to justify my XB1X purchase. I had XB1S before (value for money, that one is way better). A lot of the XB1X enhanced titles came too late - not going to replay games on XB1X. The only true 1st party, decent, designed from ground up for XB1X so far is Forza Horizon 4.

AC Odyssey received great score for PC so if it sucks on PC, then I don't know why it has better review scores than XB1 version. Also, I was really disappointed with AC: Origins on XB1X, so I am not going to bother with AC Odyssey until it is dirt cheap.

consoles have been seeing more exclusives

Are we talking about XB1 exclusives or PS4 exclusives? Even RDR2, honestly, I don't get why PC version won't be released (at least not for a while).

XB1 exclusives is another problem. Bought a lot of them, they dropped in value and Microsoft put them in GamePass. If Microsoft don't put exclusives on GamePass, I reckon XB1 series would suffer even more.

          • @neomoz: I traded in my PS4 for a XB1X a few weeks ago and I complete agree, its an amazing machine. I've spent more time in Forza Horizon 4 in the past week than I probably did on the PS4 in the past few months. Also, I was really disappointed in Spiderman, it ended up just being Batman Arkham clone with worse combat. I do miss Uncharted however, its probably the only PS4 exclusive I really enjoyed.

        • XBox one X is the only one that can play 4K Bluray

Xbox One S also supports 4K Blu Ray.

          • @Humble Johnson: Am I the only person that chooses Xbox over ps because of the controller ?

  • You mentioned 'C&C' click & collect? in the description, how do you select it as an option in Ebay? can't seemed to find it

  • Gone Already?? item no longer available

BigW ebay has Xbox One X with Sea of Thieves and Shadow of Tomb Raider for $539+ shipping:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xbox-One-X-1TB-Console-Shadow-Of…

    • Thanks I snapped up that deal, don't have shadow of the tomb raider, I had AC coming in the mail from a previous gamesmen deal. Sea of theives I'll sell the code since I already have it via gamepass.

    • Wish it was the white console and the games in the ebgames listing had higher sell/trade value.

  • +2

You sell all those game codes and that's a damn cheap 1x

    • Anyone wants to sell Forza Horizon 4 token cheap?

    • That's what I was planning to do. Plus could of traded in assassin's creed to ebgames with my birthday 50% trade in bonus :(

  • Frustrated they pulled this, had it in my basket ready to buy this morning once the 10% started!

  • Its quite good deal really

  • This is a pretty good deal. You reckon they will be better deals on the Xbone next month during Black Friday sales?

  • They've listed this deal again, however only with 5% discount, equaling $616. No where as good as the former.
