Android TV Box like a Mi Box?

  • Have you got a Wii U or Xbox? You can cast youtube to them.
Or a second hand chromecast from eBay?

    • I got a wii no the new 'u'

  • My friend got 1 of these, and was quite happy with it. Comes with 2 years warranty from CEX and $80. A grade means it should… be like new. If not, return it for free postage back and full refund.

Has full keybord in remote control, which I think is really cool. Also has an "air mouse" .
Haven't really seen it in action, but my friend runs everything on this, that I run on my $2,500 2017 model sony android tv.

Depends on when you plan on upgrading to 4k, and if your current tv is 4k. I would go something 4k capable.

Definitely go for some android device if your tech savy and intend on using more than just netflix and a browser.

Probably my favorite thing that I can do on android are running USA netflix, just open VPN app in android, then click netflix, and foreign content enabled (VPN subscription required) .

I liked the old WD tv live boxes from Western Digital, but only had netflix and few other things.

Other options are consoles. Probably pick up a ps3 or xbox360 quite cheap these days.

Andoid box of some sort for most flexibility though. 4k if you have 4k tv, or plan on getting 4k tv any time soon.

    • TV is 1080p don't need anything higher than that… $80 is too high would rather just hook up my old chromebook (if possible) before doing that. I don't need netflix or anything just a browser.

cheapest…chromecast - assuming its got compatible apps.

    Otherwise an old laptop

    • I have an old chromebook but only has usb ports so no go I'm assuming… https://www.notebookcheck.net/Acer-Chromebook-11-CB3-111-Rev… I do have another laptop around here somewhere maybe I can get that to work.. would rather some kind of stick though because of space but don't want to pay much for it $20 or $30

Edit just noticed the acer chromebook does have a HDMI maybe that is my best option as it just sits here and doesn't get used anyway. T Hanks for the tip!

    Take it to school

  • I don't think anyone has ever uses the browser that comes with the TV. EVER.

    • I'm special.. or as my other half keeps telling me 'special needs'.

  • Raspberry PI3 set up with latest Raspbian OS. Buy the case and small heatsink on ebay. Use an old mobile phone powerpack if you have one.
