I thought that too as it isn't too clear on the main website, but in the T+Cs it says: "Earn 1 entry for every referred friend who enters. Friends referrals must be valid and meet terms and conditions. For your friend referral to be counted as an entry your friend needs to have entered after clicking your unique referral link."
