Hey guys.

I've been using Horleys ICE for a while now but that's expensive and I decided to give MyProtein a go (although Horleys is f****** delicious).
Searching for active coupons, I found this one. Two websites gave 27th of September as the finishing date but I was able to use it and get the discount (I bought 5kg Impact Whey Isolate, total cost AUS 116.38, expected cashback AUD 7.01).

The gift is a pre-workout or amino sample.

I believe you get two gifts if you spend over $150, according to the website:
"One free gift at $100, or two free gifts at $150
+ 10% off everything | Use code: MYPRO10"

  • Curious what's so special about the Whey Isolate vs the Whey Protein formula?

    Whey Isolate: 373 cal (90g protein) per 100g A$132.99 with discount A$106.39 + 1 free gift
    Whey Protein: 412 cal (82g protein) per 100g A$89.99 with discount A$71.99

Is 400g of protein really worth $35 extra?

    • Isolate is typically better tolerated for people who are lactose intolerant

    • +3

I've always bought isolate thinking that I am taking less carbs/fat and more "pure/isolated" protein, but I cannot say that the difference is worth $35 extra.

      I've just Googled:

"Whey protein concentrate has a protein content of around 80%, the protein content of whey protein isolate is 90%. This is because whey protein isolate undergoes a process called Cross-Flow Micro-filtration. This separates the protein from fat, cholesterol and lactose meaning a purer protein as the end product."

"Whey protein isolate is believed to have less fat, cholesterol, lactose, carbohydrates and calories than most other proteins on the market. It is therefore a common choice for those looking to maintain low levels of body fat but who still require the protein to help their muscles repair and recover. Although whey protein concentrate is already considered low in lactose, whey protein isolate is considered even lower because of the additional manufacturing processes. Whey protein isolate is therefore often recommended for athletes who suffer from lactose intolerance."

      "Whey Concentrate Vs Whey Isolate
People have long debated which one is better, whey protein concentrate or whey protein isolate. The truth is there is no outright winner and it largely depends on your personal nutritional goals. There are differences between whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate. Whey protein isolate has a higher protein content and is lower in carbohydrates, lactose and fat. But it is typically more expensive due to the additional manufacturing process it undergoes. Here at TPW, we think it’s worth asking yourself whether the additional benefits are worth the price tag. And as explained above, often they are if you’re goal is to keep your body fat low or if you’re lactose intolerant." ( https://www.theproteinworks.com/thelockerroom/whey-protein-c… )

I'm not lactose intolerant but I like the idea of taking protein without taking carbs or fat.

      • Ye cheers for that info.

From what I've gathered looking at past protein bargains, $71.99 for 5kg @ 82g per 100g seems like a fantastic deal. Not sure how it'll stack up taste wise though.

        • The Chocolate smooth is the most accepted flavour according to some reviews:
          https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/55mtkj/i_tried_out…
          https://www.proteinhunter.com/best-myprotein-flavours

          Some people don't like.
I used to take ON gold standard double rich chocolate years ago, which was good. I switched to Horleys, which tastes amazing. It is very likely that I will be disappointed after moving from Horleys, let's see… I tried different brands along the years, in addition to ON and Horley, but they are usually pretty bad once you get used to ON/Horleys. I was almost buying Horleys this afternoon but 2.5Kg = AUD 130.00 = 83 servings (best deal I got online). Then I found the coupon and decided to buy the My Protein (200 servings = AUD 116 (AUD 109 after cashback).

          • @this is us: Ye I ended up getting 250g of creatine, 11kg of protein + some random preworkout for $153.58 ($142.82 after cashrewards + free shipping)

            Really good deal.

        • +1

Chocolate smooth, choc brownie, choc caramel and rocky road are all pretty good and basically the same.
          Latte is really good.
Salted caramel is great, far better than the BN version.

Blueberry cheesecake is delicious, but you get over it quickly. Same with Speculoos and Cinamon Danish. You gotta rotate them with a basic flavour.
Choc mint is pretty inoffensive, but overrated.

Banana is gross. But banana flavour is always gross.
          Pistachio is horrible.
Apple Crumble makes me want to vomit.
          The stevia ones are cancer.

  • can you stack the referee discount and with the specials?

    Thanks!
