    4K in description could mislead. It's a 1080p projector.

  • Anyone got one of these yet?

      • -1

so, no, is that the answer?

      • This is a moderate review. Pay attention the this below quote:

"up to 7000 lumens source brightness."

"The key word here is ‘source’. The is the when the light is measured before it reach it’s target. In reality, this projector still needs a fairly dim environment to look it’s best. When looking at projector brightness, you’ll want to look out for this."

    • Waiting for it's next $1999 deal.
For what it is, it's not worth paying more than $100 over the price of the Xiaomi short throw projector.

This price is a big no no though, gearbest have been pricing this $400+ lower than this frequently enough

I think you might be referring the Xiaomi version?
The Wemax version has brighter lumens and better components.

        • No, but I just looked again and I was seeing the US price not the aus price.

My apologies, this is a competitive price

          • @Salmando: Thanks for your comment Salmando.

  • How would warranty claim work on this? Who bears the cost of sending this back to HK?

    • Hi the warranty is return to Australian base.

This is not real 7000 lumen. It is misleading. 7000 is the light source lumens, by the time it reach out to the screen with all the light compensation, it only has around 1500-1800 lumen on screen.

It all started with XIAOMI's press release by creating their "5000 light source lumens" concept to confuse/mislead consumers. In order to achieve ANSI 3000 Lumens on screen, light source lumens needs to reach up to 13,000 lumens, as lots of deductions on the light path. This machine should not be advertised as 7000 Lumens, as it is not fair to the other competitors.

      • Hi Mickey,

        Firstly, Thanks for your comment.

However, I think you are confusing the Xiaomi 5000 lumens projector with the Wemax 7000 lumens one.

For the lumens rating, it is common that they use the rating on the output.
There are many factors that would influence the lumens on screen. Types of screen, distance, sizes of screen, etc. I am not a professional on this but I can see why they using the rating on the output.

I am more than happy to change if I am wrong. Just quoting the rating source here:

        Hope this helps.
        Cheers

Wemax 7000 is just another variant of XIAOMI laser projector by increasing the light source lumens from 5000 to 7000. They are all OEM by "Appotronics", a company who invented ALPD technology in china.

Both machines are using 0.47 inch DLP DMD chip. According to the specs on TI, 0.47 inch dlp chip can only handle no more than 2000 output lumens within ideal working temperature. A real output 7000lm on a 0.47 chip will burn.

          • @Mickeyjc: You seem to know what your talking about :), do you know if any newer models will be releasing anytime soon that are brighter then 2000 lumens?

            • @spriggan43: Look at their do chip if its size only 0.47 inch, most likely won't exceed 2000 lumens. Look at those dmd chip size.
If you want a truth 4k and don't mind the price tag, Dell S718QL has truth 4k resolution with 5000 lumens.
Also Hisense 100L8D also has high lumens. Search both on Amazon.

I am not saying this Xiaomi or Wemax laser projectors are not good. As budget laser machine, they are OK. As it has low lumens output, putting up on a wall might not be ideal during the daytime. You better spend another thousand $ to get an ambient light rejection screen that designed just for short thrown laser projectors, you will get closer to LCD TV effect. Check elite screen CLR screen

          • @Mickeyjc: Aren't there 3 chips in the projector? I thought that's what 3.0 is for in APLD.

            • @igoforthebest: Nah. Only the cinema dlp has 3 chips. Normal home budget dlp only has one chip. APLD 3.0 just means 3rd generation of this technology. It uses single blue color laser light source and goes through a color wheel to generate the other red and green color that dlp needs. V3 is APLD has an enhanced roller shape of color wheel instead of normal rounded color wheel, added z axis 3d movement, to make sure most of the color wheel area is used, to make its life span last longer. V3 APLD also enhance red color portion of the output compare to V1 APLD, to make the picture more vivid.
