What Should I Cook Tonight?

Gonna do some sort of lazy stirfry cause I'm lazy, normally do beef n black bean or Mongolian, don't use kanton jars or anything, but I'll cheat and get stuff from Yuens market or Hanaromart etc.

I'm sitting here, trying to think of the Chinese meals of my youth, when the only Asian food you could get was "Chinese"…

All I can think of is the two mentioned above and sweet and sour (blech)…

So yeah, little nostalgia trip and just hoping someone will mention something that gets me excited…

  • Okay, are you after Chinese Chinese food, or like, Westernised and bastardized "Chinese" food?

    That makes a big difference.

A favourite of mine (of the Westernised and bastardized variety) is Kung Pao Chicken.

    "Special" fried rice.

My local Chinese place has those quotation marks too. I think it means "extra" special. ;)

As for meal suggestion - can of tuna on crushed WeetBix with a sprinkle of Evening Primrose Oil, chia seeds, brussel sprouts and cauliflower mash.

This was amazing. It started out sounding like the most ghetto, cheap meal ever, and then finished like a gourmet main. Utter rollercoaster of emotions.

It was my lunch when I was in uni. I use to eat for nutrients.

        Now, I look like what I eat…

        • I mean, I guess it's good you don't look like tuna, crushed weeties, primrose oil, and mash lol.

          • @HighAndDry: Now I just look like mash.

            Dad bod ftw.

Have you tried Cream of Sum Yung Gai?

  • Meat
    Small or Medium-sized dog
    Marinade
    1 cup vinegar
    3 tbsp salt
    6 cloves garlic, crushed
    20 spicy Thai peppers
    3 tomatoes, puréed
    3 cups lemon juice
    Procedure
First kill the dog as humanely as possible. To verify if the dog is dead you can cut the tendon between two of the digital pads of a paw and check for a response.
Burn off the fur over hot charcoal.
Carefully remove the skin while still warm and set aside for later. (It may be used in other recipes.)
Remove the entrails and cut dog up into sections, about 12 to 16 large pieces.
In a food processor, mix all the marinade ingredients together. Put dog pieces into this marinade in a large container, then let it sit for at least 2 hours.
Put dog pieces on a charcoal grill, cover and let it burn over warm coals. Flip and baste occasionally for about 1 hour or until meat is tender.
