Cheap Options to Rent a Car for Less than 1 Week (NSW, Sydney Area after Christmas)

G'day everyone,

I am looking for affordable recommendations to rent a car after Christmas to escape from Sydney for a few days until after New Years. I was expecting this period to be not very cheap but priced are quite high ($100/day) and many charging a surcharge for drivers under 25. I was looking at several comparison sites as well as AMEX (because I still got a $200 Travel Voucher here to be used) but prices are much higher than expected.

  • Period: 27/12 (or 28/12) - 02/01 (03/01)
  • Pickup & Return: Sydney
  • Driver Age: 23 years old
  • Distance: Not very huge distance - driving down to
  • Insurance: Ideally good insurance level without $5,000 excess in case of accidents
  • Price expectation: if possible less than $60/day
  • $200 AMEX Voucher, 100,000 Airline Miles that I don't mind spending (if at least 1pt=1ct value)

I also came across bayswatercarrental.com who for that period (including $0 excess) offer the rental for $350 total. Can you guys recommend them? Is there any smart way to utilize my AMEX voucher?

The price is not the only factor but certainly an important one. Any feedback or personal experience is much appreciated.

      I paid $145 for a week - with 100klm per day.

      Book now for that period

    I used rentabomb in mascot after xmas last year, was much cheaper than the better companies but the car was really bad.

    Bays water is cheap and good
    But it sounds like their insurance is dodgy… U can google it. Few stories of them not paying up. So u may want to consider a separate insurance policy for the rental (eg with Allianz of something)
