Uluru Hotels - Three Nights Cheaper than Two

I’m looking at hotels for Uluru and they only have 3 night specials but we only need 2 nights. If I had known I would have booked flights for extra night!

The crazy thing is that 3 nights is cheaper than 2 nights or same price.

How can I sell or give away the 3rd night? Considering price for 1 night is $500. This is the Desert Sails or The Garden Resort. The Desert even comes with buffet breakfast for 3 nights but none for 2 nights and 3 nights cheaper than 2!

My dates are 28/11 to 30/11. On 3/11 our flight us 9:30am so leaving early. 1 night up for grabs on 30/11.

Unless you know the person that you are selling/giving the room away too, I wouldn't. It's your credit card that will have the security deposit on it.

I would just book the 3 nights which you say are cheaper, and consider it a win. The hotel won't give a crap if you don't stay the third night.

    • That is what we will likely do but it’s such a waste. Somebody could use the extra night.

"Hi internet strangers, anyone want to buy my 3rd night at an Uluru hotel? you'll be sleeping in my used bed."

    yeah, nah

I’ve got urgent news for you about how hotel beds work.

i understand that hotels change sheets between guest but if you are booked in for 3 night then the hotel won't change the sheets for that 3rd night just because you "sub-let" the room

I have even more urgent news for you…

  • Where are you booking through and what price are you getting for the 2 nights vs 3 nights?

    • From the Uluru official website. The Sails hotel has house keeping daily.

I’m also happy to give it away. no charge. Anyway it’s just a waste.

You can't sell or give away the 3rd night. Its in the terms, so give up on that idea.

Book the 3 nights as its CHEAPER and then just checkout a day early and let the 3rd night go unused.

Its still cheaper for you ;)

    • Yeah I will be doing that. Thanks.

What is the price difference between 2 nights and 3 nights?

I haven't been there, is it a 'captive' audience for additional sales of meals, drinks, etc., and thus they actually make more money if people stay longer (despite the accomm costs being lower).

The entire town is run by the same organisation so there's no real competition.

Book the third night and consider it just free very late check-out. I've honestly done that sometimes when I've got a full day before my flight out and don't feel like getting up early.

    • I fly out at 9:30am so that room will be empty. It’s like $500+ for 1 night.

What time are you flying in? It might be worth talking to the hotel and see if you can use this as an early check in for the first day. Sometimes you can't check in to a hotel until afternoon. Just a thought. Otherwise I agree with the others, if the price is the same then burn a day.

    • Yes I will probably do that sine we arrive at 8:30am although I think we are going straight to activities.

  • i used to buy return flights on BA that were cheaper than single flights.

i just never used the return.

why do you care? book whats cheaper, and be done with the rest. only a true bum and risk taker would sublet a hotel room

  • My tip for anyone taking advantage of jetstars cheap direct flights to book 4 days instead of 3 or just 1 day. It’s very costly.. inc all the tours.
