    On first inspection I think I prefer the design of the other because the supporting piece sits in detents in the base. This one seems to rely on friction in the joint (which may be perfectly fine).

      Been using one of these for the last 18 months purchase via a previous cheap deal and the joint part still works fine and allow you to adjust the position to exactly what you need vs other model (which I also have) where you can only chose a position for each slit in the base.

  It doesn't look big enough to accommodate an Ipad that's in a thick silicone protective case.

  Have this exact one from the last deal. It's good that its prop the phone up on my work desk so I can see messages coming in. But you won't be able to charge the phone at the same time in vertical position.
