  • What's the timeframe to get delivery to the Gold Coast? Could I order today and possibly have delivery this Friday? Thanks.

  • +1

Is it possible to get it as 10x 300g cuts? It says that the external fat is trimmed by the butcher, could I get this left on?
Also, do you sell suet by any chance?

    Thanks

    • Looks like a good deal, but I'd be pretty upset if the fat was missing. The ones in the picture look alright.

That's why I prefer to window shop for my steaks, but I'm going to give this deal a go.

      • My thoughts exactly. The ones in the picture are okay but the whole 1kg uncut piece looks like it's been mostly removed.

        • Trust me. Your steaks will look NOTHING like the ones in the picture!
          Fool me once.

          • @madreece: What do they look like?

          • @madreece: Why, have you purchased from them before? They post deals on ozbargain regularly and I've always been interested to know their quality. I used to use a similar mail order butcher in Scotland called Donald Russell who did similar deals and their meat was far superior to supermarkets. At $33 per kg this is a pretty good deal if the produce is very good.

            • @C0mbat: I ordered $100 + worth of meat on one of these deals from these guys last year. Messaged Malcolm about how I would like them cut (thicker - this is a waste of time). Looking at those pictures of the pristine steaks made my mouth water. What I got first time was some very warm (like 25 degree steaks because of the courier. (definitely NOT Sutton Meats fault) The next delivery was probably the worst looking steaks I had ever seen. The butchering was just disgraceful (Steak weights up to 700gms). I had a nice word with Malcolm and he said that they were just really busy cutting xxxx kgs of steaks. The meat to me just really wasn't anything special but YMMV.

  • What about grain-fed? I want some tasty steaks.

Grain fed is, in fact, inferior to grass-fed beef which has been grazed in a good paddock.

Cattle which are grain fed have a much unhealthier fat profile, as opposed to Grass-fed beef, which has higher levels of healthy Omega 3 fats.

Cows are supposed to move around and eat grass. Not be shut into lots being force-fed an un-natural diet of grain.

      • Also, the levels of intramuscular fat seen in grain-fed beef is somewhat similar to that seen in diabetic humans. Doesn't seem like a healthy metabolic state for an animal to be in.

I'd encourage you to do some research into the feedlots they use for grain fed. I got to see them first hand when my brother was working on a contract at a property and took me to see the feedlots they have for the "grain feeding" process towards the end of their lives.
My brother has sworn to never work for an employer who does feed lots again. And I'll never eat grain fed again. Terrible industry practice.

      • Help me understand the problem here. I'm not going on safari looking for bad feedlots practices, the quick look I just had only really explained the standards and different gradings.

They are let into a feed lot to eat from a trough for at least the last month of their lives to increase the yield and quicken the turnaround. I assume their are standards that these feedlots have to adhere to before the meat can be labelled with the MSA GF or GFF.

Are the cattle packed in too tight, trampling each other? The feed can't be that bad, they aren't starving, they are getting a high energy diet. Is it the 'freedom' aspect that is not ideal? They aren't living in the feedlots surely.

Apart from the fat content which people are averse to, I don't understand how grain-fed-finished is grossly worse than grass-fed. There's clearly something I'm not aware of.

        • They are not meant to eat grain like that their stomachs can’t handle it and they get sick and would die if not being slaughtered anyway.

        • Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, they are forced to live in the feedlots and eat grain, with no access to grass at all. It's also a fairly small space they are stuck in for around 3 months, treading through their own filth and mud.

So both freedom (restricted movement, quality of life) and the animal health aspect.

        • When you eat grain fed beef, as opposed to naturally raised grass-fed beef, You are eating something that is harmful to YOUR human body.

Other posters have concentrated on the poor living conditions of the cattle which are force-fed grain.

MY original post, which people seem to have misunderstood, was informing you of the cattle's altered fat profiles due to this unnatural grain-feeding process which in turn, harms your health when you consume it.

    individually cryovaced

Wish I had a machine, would love to cryovac someone.

    • My mate tried to create a business cryovacing dead people so that they would fit in smaller graves and save money and help the planet. The business died before their customers did.

  • Do you sell Wagyus OP?

No reply from the Rep which is always a negative sign for me… I likely would have based my purchase on the quality of response.

  • • we deliver next day into most parts of NSW, VIC, ACT and QLD

Ordered on the 3rd. Was advised yesterday it will be in THIS Thursday's post. Never again.
