Outdoor Basketball Shoes

Looking for outdoor basketball shoes, low cut, with great cushioning and longivity. Can anyone recommend from their own experience, preferably, available from the local shops (Adelaide) to try on?

  • Depends what surface you'll mostly be playing on.

  • I only play indoors. Sorry

  • A trick I found was to look at Tennis shoes for outdoor basketball. More durable outsole compared to regular basketball shoes designed for indoors and also has pivot spots since tennis players need to change direction a lot similar to basketball

Only con is the look of the shoes. Otherwise pros is cheaper price + durability

    • Allan, what about cushioning? Tennis players don't seem to land on the heels that often and that hard as in basketball; that may be reflected on the buildup of the shoes?

      • Fair point about cushioning. I still find there is decent amount, durability lasts longer than regular basketball shoes. With good mechanics you wouldn't land on your heels a lot, would tend to land on balls of feet.

With my style of play I don't tend to jump much, more movement/boxing out. Especially with pickup basketball - there's a lot of hero ball.

        Position I play is forward

I have older model of these

  • i been playing in a pair of Kyrie 3's outdoors, probably once a week for an hour at a time for the past few months. I also have a pair of Lebron XI's which i was wearing but they're high cut

    • supasaiyan, what is your feedback on them in terms of cushioning and durability?

      • really depends on your size, i'm about 6ft and normally play SG. But the cushioning is fine for me, never get blisters or anything. Also the thing I like about the Kyrie 3's, is that the price isn't crazy. I got mine for $103 from Nike directly but they regularly go on sale

Another pair I'm waiting to try, is the PG2's

    • How is the sole holding up? I'd imagine that using indoor shoes outdoors will shred the soles pretty quickly?

  • If you want cushioning, then any of the Adidas shoes with Boost would be the way to go. More recent models seem to have found a good balance between adding cushioning from Boost without impairing stability of the shoe.

    • I wouldn't play in the boost range outdoors.. maybe the older D Rose models, but not the recent ones
