Good luck all
just read the fine print: winner must do a burnout upon leaving the facility.
Why do Shannons insist on the apostrophe in V8's?
It is because whoever put this together doesn't know the apostrophe doesn't belong. A lot of people do it. I find it annoying.
can you explain the correct use in a succinct manner?
It is to denote ownership. "Win one of the last Holden Commodore V8's" doesn't own anything. However "Win one of the last Holden Commodore V8's doormat" would be correct.
Why does Shannons insist…
It could be either depending on whether your interpretation of "Shannons" is singular or plural?
The irony is the ' probably belongs in their name more than it does in V8 (unless its meant to be the plural form of Shannon)
"Shannons" is not a possessive noun in this case.
And it isn't plural.
The real irony is the great discussion of grammar in a post about a Holden Commodore. lol
It is a condition of entry that Eligible Entrants consent to receive Shannons marketing communications and do not opt out during the Entry Period.
prepare for all those calls
That'd be why I'm putting a reminder in my calendar for about 5 days before the entries close to enter, and soon after the draw is done to opt-the-fluck out of their bollocks
Thank OP. I'd love one of these. I've only ever owned Holden sedans, LH Torana, VH Commodore, VS Statesman, VE Commodore and it would be great to own the last of an era.
4 - Competition entry commences at 12.00am on 1 October 2018 and closes at 5.00pm on 29 March 2019 ("Entry Period")
39 - Each Eligible Entrant agrees that they must provide and/or maintain their consent to receive such marketing communications and not opt out of receiving such communications during the Entry Period.I might put it in my calendar to enter next march though :)
Thanks gnv
