RALPH LAUREN - 25% off When You Buy 2 Items

30

Just picked up 2 shirts for under $250… Not to bad if you like the Ralph Lauren brand.

The salesperson actually pointed out that you can buy what you want and then just grab some socks to get the second item.

New winter stock has just arrived as well so grab some great new clothing for winter, at a discount!

lol'd at "Just picked up 2 shirts for under $250… "

    • If they're "Ralph Lauren Purple Label" shirts the price isn't too bad, but it's definitely a lol-worthy price if they're substandard Made in China "Polo Ralph Lauren" shirts.

then just grab some socks to get the second item

Sure, if you're willing to pay $70 for a pair of socks. :)

    • It's like buying a brand new Ferrari for $400,000. Yeah it is a good deal in terms of buying a new Ferrari but you still could have bought ten or twenty standard cars for the same amount.

      • Buying Polo Ralph Lauren at near retail price is like buying a standard car for the price of a Ferrari. The brand represents atrocious value; their stuff is Made in China and the quality is no better than what is typically found at Target. The markups (particularly in Australia where prices are typically double or more of the US) are obscene relative to the manufacturing costs.

        • not quite. i bought a polo in target and after my first wear it already had a hole in it. never happened with my RL polos.

ltwo: YMMV. I think Target clothes are fine for the price, and really shouldn't develop holes after one wear if you know what to look for in terms of fabric and construction. I have throwaway clothes from there, which I've wear when I need something that will get heavily used and abused, that have lasted 10 years plus and are still going strong.

Polo Ralph Lauren is one of Ralph Lauren's low-end lines, and the quality really is nothing to crow about. I don't see the value being there if you are paying retail or close to retail, although I suppose the value is OK if you manage to buy for a 70%+ discount.

$250 for two PRL button-up shirts (like the OP bought) is overpriced when for a similar price you can get bespoke shirts, made to measure by an Australian tailor using Italian fabrics, that will fit perfectly unlike anything you can find off the rack. Likewise $150 retail for a polo shirt made for $2 in China, in insubstantial cotton pique, with a flimsy collar, cheap plastic buttons (at least Lacoste still uses mother of pearl), colours that will run after a few washes (supposedly that's on purpose, to give it a "worn" look) and lousy fits (for many people I see wearing them) represents rather poor value IMHO.

Basically, I'm sick of megacorporations like this who bleed all value out of their products in the interests of shareholder value, outsourcing to China and charging sky high markups that bear no relation to the quality of the goods.

        • I would class myself as somewhat fashion conscious and I actually prefer my $7 Target polos to my $50 (half price) RL polos.

  • lol i get socks for $10 at DFO and it has about 3 pairs in a pack.

  • god the website is a bunch of wank — i just want to look at the bloody clothes

  • aussie RL website is terrible i have to say. outdated and cluttered with only a fraction of the stock the US store has..

  • lol you can get Adidas socks 2 for $10 or 3 for $12 from Harris Scarfe.
