I like to download youtube videos and have them playing while im at the gym. I have been putting them on my ipod but it has stopped working. Any app that will let me play these videos while also having my phone locked? (I know there is youtube premium for a fee)
I have the VLC app but it stops youtube videos playing when I lock my phone. Audio stops aswell
Oh I thought you had downloaded the video. I transfer videos to VLC and they will play (audio) on lock. That's what I was referring to, sorry if I misunderstood. I download on PC and transfer using the brilliant feature in VLC to use wifi network to transfer files.
I do download them on my PC and transfer them over, is there a feature or something you have to enable so the audio will continue playing
@JimmyJohnson: No, I just tested again and vlc out of the box plays the audio when iphone is locked. I don't even think there was a setting I changed. It just seems to work.
@swapsey: Found it, was in VLC -> Preferences -> Background/PiP Mode -> Switch to play in background. (It was default on stop/off mode). This was on my Moto G5

It can download videos to your phone, do background playback and also download just the audio stream and save it to your music library. It's also open source and has no ads, unlike a lot of other options on the Play Store.
You do need to sideload it.

I tried Ymusic and nothing plays for me,
Newpipe works but it doesn't auto next I don't think
VLC app but not sure if plays videos on lock screen, but will play audio when locked.
