[Refurb] KitchenAid Mini KSM3311 $339, Artisan KSM160 $369, KSM170 $389 + Delivery (Free with Club Catch Membership) @ Catch

First time post here so please be nice.

I've been looking for a good KitchenAid deal for a while and stumbled across these awesome sales on Catch of the Day.

KitchenAid KSM3311 Mini Stand Mixer REFURB - Twilight Blue $339

KitchenAid KSM160 Artisan Stand Mixer REFURB - Empire Red $369 Out of Stock

KitchenAid KSM170 Stand Mixer REFURB - Candy Apple $389

I don't have Club Catch (otherwise it would be free shipping), and paid $12.95 postage for the KSM170 when I bought it. Mind you, with 3% CashRewards cashback, it essentially worked out to be free shipping.

There's a variety of other colours available and variable prices, but these are the cheapest colours for the models described. Easiest way to see all the options is to just do a search on Catch for "KitchenAid stand mixer" (link here)

NOTE: these are REFURBISHED goods that come with a 12-month manufacturer warranty (which is less than the usual 2-5 year warranty from KitchenAid, depending on the model). Website states: "KitchenAid refurbished models have been refurbished by KitchenAid. They may have been used e.g. for demonstrations or photo shoot purposes. Some models are refurbished due to cosmetic imperfections which cannot be repaired. Warranty for refurbished models is 12 months parts and labour against manufacturers faults for household use"

For the cost savings on offer (KSM170 at Harvey Norman is currently $599, and Bing Lee even worse at $699), paying $200 less for a refurbished model (still with a warranty) seemed worth it to me.

  • this is a good price, tempted to replace my american one, but its working great, it's just annoying with the stepdown transformer

  • for an additional 10% off:

    • Argh, didn't think of that when I bought it!

  • Why is this so expensive? Its only 300W? The Kenwood Chef which was on special last week (for less then this BTW) is 1000W.

    • I suppose it's the brand name. A lot of my extended family have one and rave about it, which is probably the main reason why I got one.

      • I thought maybe the marketing costs are huge for them cos they are on all the cooking shows. But it seems like thats not much power when making bread/pizza dough.

    • I mix a large loaf of bread (650gm+) every few days, works like a charm, well made, does everything I want it to do, these are well built and top tier. But everyone makes there own choice whats best for them :)

      • Good to know it can handle the load. I read that they leak oil into food sometimes… Has this ever happened to you?

        • never any issues and I've had it for around 8 years, brought it back from the states with me lol wasn't going to let the ex have it!

          • @Trantor: Nice. I hear they are like a third of the price over there.

            • @Stivo: If I remember right, I got it for like $125 from amazon during a black friday sale!

              • +1

@Trantor: WOW. We get so screwed here.

                • @Stivo: well it was super cheap, even for there

  • Kitchen aid also use to be the commercial mixer used by businesses, then the average homeowner started buying them, they eventually spun off a home version/division (kitchen aid) and a separate industrial version (Hobart)

  • bugger - empire red KSM160 is sold out! would have been a perfect christmas present for my better half :(

    • Just get the KSM170 for $20 more. I looked into the differences between the two and basically the 160 has an extra bowl that's small, and it comes with a pouring shield. From what I've read, the pouring shield is less useful than it sounds.

The initially thought the glass bowl of the 170 was a purely cosmetic thing. But my wife pointed out that the glass bowl means you can see from a distance how your dough or cake mix is coming along, rather than having to come up to the mixer to look down the bowl.

reddit seems to suggest almost universally that the metal bowl is better because its lighter and won't break if you drop it?

the small bowl also does sound quite useful. its all good, another deal will come along (or one of the other colour KSM160s might drop in price enough to tempt us to buy it instead)

      • I prefer the metal bowls myself, and as @xyron said glass ones very heavy and breakable

    • There's other colours available for KSM160 which are under $400.
