  • but Battlefield V is coming out~!!! —— Ummm…..should i get it? I am still playing BF4~

    • Yes it's still worth it IMO, still averages around 25k players on daily for PC. Definitely not dead for sure.

      • +2

25k players on pc but how much on Aussie servers?

        • I'd surmise at least 800

          • +3

@cornbeef: Can easily get into a full oceania game even when it isnt at peak times

        • +1

There's usually 2-3 full games (64/64 players) during the day for Australian servers. The Oceania servers are surprisingly active, no kidding.

          • +1

@smogg: True. 10-12 servers average active between 8 pm - 11 pm. Great game and price !!!

Can I play as a black nazi?

    • +1

I'm afraid you'll have to wait for Battlefield V ;)

    • A black nazi woman.

She kicks arse because she's a girl!

    • +4

Nazi's aren't in WW1. Guess DICE was right. You left a similar comment on the last BF1 bargain, guess originality isn't your forte

    • +2

I play CoD and Battlefield for historical accuracy thank you.

  • I don’t care about the multiplayer tbh. Is it worth it for the single player at this price?

    • +2

I personally didn't really enjoy the BF1 Single player. It's basically a collection of WW1 Stories, there isn't a full playable story campaign like the other Battlefield games had.

      • No worries; I’ll give it a miss then.

        • +2

The single player is amazing. They're nice emotional stories showing different theatres of the war. They are short, but well worth $6.24

        • They are shit. Absolutely terrible.

Healing tanks that float over debris with all the enemies lined up for shooting, the guys with rifles cannot hurt your tank anything at all and they stand still shooting at you. The only thing that hurts the tank is a turrent that is around every corner and you can get out immediately after blowing it up to heal your tank and drive off again.

A plane mission where your goal is to take out anti-aircraft gun turrets. It'll be nice if it switched to a ground troop to take it out, but nope.

The AI is horrific and the gameplay dull, any emotion is lost in the tedium of actually playing the game.

      • +1

that was kinda intentional and not necessarily a bad thing

i think ppl found the BF SP storylines underwhelming compared to Call of Cinematic rail shooter Black OPs 4000
So they switched it up and made it a collection of tighter individual stories that contribute to the overall WW1 narrative

Made the narrative much better and focused in my opinion and not repetitive/dragged out

    • +3

Loved the single player campaign mode. You can't really lose for only $6.24. Right now up to the last part of the campaign mode and so will be quite sad to see it end. Loved the Gallipoli one with the Australian character in story 5.

      • +2

Oh crap, an opposing view point to the last one. Back to being indecisive :p

        • +2

its worth it for under 7 bucks. just buy it. The stories are not interrelated. But that makes them more focused and suited for the different weapon/vehicle mission types
It also pays homage to the actual heroes theyre based on, who carried out those missions in WW1 as opposed to an army of 1 dude whos an expert marksman with every weapon type and knows how to drive every vehicle type and is immortal to bullets

          • @furythree: Rightio. It was the Gallipoli mission that was appealing to me as an Aussie so may as well give it a shot

        • Back to being indecisive

Let me try and change your mind: would you like to play 6 short campaigns that are overburdened with a ridiculous reverence for young men shooting each other in the head?

War is young men screaming racist insults about the enemy as they blow their heads off because they dehumanise the enemy to make it OK to kill them. Battlefield 1 acts like this happened with the solemn respect of a funeral service.

          It's ridiculous and stupid.

          • +2

@Diji1: WW1 was not Vietnam. To generalise all war as the same and to say that the soldiers on the Western Front had no respect for their enemy as soldiers or human beings whatsoever is straight-up incorrect. Many soldiers adopted a policy of "live-and-let-live" since they all recognised the messed-up situation they were in. BF1 is a video-game, and you saying they killed one another with solemn respect isn't at all true, the game never portrays that. Stop painting war under the same brush, every war was different.

          • @Diji1: I thought the Gallipoli story in particular where the main character who was and older experienced one was great. It showed how war was not fame and glory but how harsh, messy and terrible it can be.
These campaigns help bring a bit or realism to these point and shoot games and I hope that this helps the young players to appreciate the sacrifices our fathers and grandfathers have made for our country.

            • @danielh: The AI was too piss poor for me to enjoy that aspect. The first tank mission where the guys would stand still firing rifles that did 0 damage for as long as you left your tank there.

    • also interested in this too - i love FPS for for the single player campaign story. It's sad that it's much easier for developer to just develop multiplayer and make earnings from loot boxes.

    • +1

I bought this recently when it was last on sale and have enjoyed the single player way more than I was expecting. I'd be very surprised if you couldn't get $6.24 worth of value from the single player alone.

    • As a package it's great. If just for the campaign, nah. Its about 4 hours long with several disconnected 30 minute stories. They aren't very exciting and they are too rushed to feel any attachment to the characters.

  • +1

This is an amazing deal. Sucks for those who bought them for full price at release though. But I guess they're the ones roaming around with the best weapons, loving all the noobs that are being injected into the game for easy kills.

    • +1

I bought it for full price at release and have done about 800hrs in it. At $0.12/hr, I've got my value out of it.

  • Great price but just FYI, number of players are falling sharply, with COD and BFV coming out, this game will become a graveyard re multiplayer. Single player is… ok to good.

    • I have found last few months there are twice as many full services compared to a while there last year

    • Making the game practically free will help with that situation in the short term. (I assume the goal is to hype up the userbase for BF V)

    • +2

Actually, number of players have increased comparing from August to September thanks to all these deals.
But yeah you're right — once BFV is out, there'll be a dramatic decrease in population.

      • +1

Yep noticed for this month, but I've been playing since release and can say it is like having 10 kids in an AFL field compared to 100 from back then…

        looking forward to BFV!

  • +3

Meh, I paid $6.99 for 1 month of EA Access and finished this game in a few days. I also played numerous others so for me that was better value than owning it.

  • Cheers op! Bought it!

    • +1

No worries, have fun :) Might see you in game if you're playing multiplayer haha!

  • +1

The deal is back and premium pass is also free again!

  • Indeed it is :)

I just added it to my collection
