Rockwell Razor 6S $118 (Was $140) / 6C $72 (was $85) + $5 Standard Shipping (Free Ship over $75 Spend) @ Ministry of Shave

fathersday15

I was on the lookout for Rockwell Razor 6S and found an Adelaidian business, Ministry of Shave, that sells it. Lucky enough that their Father's Day 15% coupon still worked for me today, which brought it down to $118. Free shipping applies to transactions over $75.

If you don't mind paying $5 for postage, the Rockwell Razor 6C is not a bad option.

The main differences between 6S and 6C are to do with material and weight. For details, feel free to check out the comparative review:

In Australia, the only other vendor that sells it probably is Beard and Blade ($149) and they are out of stock.

Beard and Blade sells 6C too but more expensive ($84)

I believe, outside Australia, retailers sell 6S at about USD$100 (AUD$138)

N.B. Because I am not affiliated with MoS, I honestly have no idea when the Father's Day promotion ends.

"Free shipping applies to transactions under $75."

    Shouldn't it be OVER $75?

But great find, I have the 6C already and it's an awesome razor.

    • You're correct. My bad. Too late at night, too eager to share.

  • I got the 6s for Father's day and am very happy with it.

Rockwell are known to have great support so o opted to get it direct as it was about the same price. Shipping was pretty fast

  • Anyone have a futur that can compare?

    • +1

      As in the Mingshi?

The Futur is a great razor for the price but I prefer the Rockwell. It has a better weight to it and the head is a bit smaller, seems to give a closer shave as well.

i'm using the Mingshi from aliexp + Gillette blade, not bad at all.

I bought Rockwell for my dad, used twice when i stayed over. is it 10 times better as price suggected? i am afraid not.

Can anyone please enlighten me ? I have been using a Gillette Mach 3 turbo for 10 years. Would this be dramatically different or feel like an upgrade ? Thanks

    • Interested in this too. Have been looking to move towards a safety razor, but this is more then I thought it would cost but happy if it's worth it.

This is overkill if you just want a better, cheaper shave. Get a Merkur HD/34C for like fifty bucks.

I used mine for a decade (its still my travel razor) and only replaced it because my wife bought me an ATT Colossus set. Perfect size, perfect balance, parts readily available and it's built like a brick… house

      Yes.

I swapped over last year. The blades are a ton cheaper than cartridges and the shaves feels a lot smoother even though you are only using one blade and not 3/5/10/whatever. I had to try a few different blades before finding one that I really liked (Gillette Rubie)but you can buy sample packs for not much money. For soaps I use either Australian Private Reserve ( https://australianprivatereserve.com/product-category/soap?v…) Or Washpool ( https://www.washpool.com.au/mens-grooming.php ) Both are great quality and are small Aussie companies.

As for cost 1 tub of soap lasts me about 6 months or so though I have 4 on the shelf and am just finishing up a couple of tubs from last year. The initial cost of the razor might be high but when you factor in the greatly reduced cost of blades as compared to cartridges it pays for itself fairly quickly. The Rockwell has multiple settings too, I just put mine on 3 and left it there. :)

      • I find my blades always get clogged really badly after every pass (I try to only shave every 3 days or so), this less likely with a safety razor?

Also how often do you change the blades? And assume they might be like 5c each rather than$2 to $5?

        • I tend to get 8-9 shaves out of a blade (depending on the blade) and I think the Rubies were about $2.50 a pack or thereabouts (other blades are cheaper), so about 50c per blade? I haven't noticed clogged blades, I just give the razor a rinse or two while I am shaving and again when I am finished.

@EightImmortals: Feathers for 33c ea in a bigass box that will last years is pretty hard to beat.

            • @jjcf: I prefer Astra Platinum and they’re only 15c each!

Feathers are good too, but too sharp if that’s even possible.

        • I rinse after each pass but it doesn't actually clog like a multi blade razor

I get about 5 shaves per edge from most blades, but much more from Feathers - you get what you pay for

Just grab a cheap Chinese razor and one of these sampler packs or similar to find what works for you

Oh buddy, there's a whole other world you've been missing out on. Check out the gentleman's forum Badger and Blade.

Shaving shouldn't be a chore, it should be a relaxing ritual that you look forward to. A bad shave can have you feeling bad all day, yet with a good shave every now and then through the day you'll feel your chin and think "Damn that's a good shave" or "I've got the best shave in the room, look at Bob's terrible shave, poor guy."

I like Astra Superior Platinum blades, but I'm going to try Rockwell ones.

      • Have you tried 7'Oclocks or Rubies?

        • No, I've got a ton of Astras. I tried Wilkinson Sword once, and went through a whole box trying to find a good blade before just tossing the rest in the bin.

You reckon the Rubies are good hey?

          • @CaffeinatedTech: Yeah I like them a lot, they are sharp but not too sharp and give a great finish..at least for my face. :) I never had much luck with Wilkinson Swords either.

  • Any thoughts on the R1 rookie? First timer with safety razor so not super keen to drop that cash to try it out

Never heard of this mob Rockwell, but their razors seem good, re adjustability. I've got a Merkur, and use Feather blades - plus my new revelation, Mitchells Lambwool Fat cream, (with Lanolin) leaves very smooth face, and no nicks or cuts. Fantastic!

Like printer inks, all the Mach 5 etc rubbish is a massive rip off, to keep you buying their overpriced products. Go DE, you'll never look back, and save heaps of money.

  • I have the 6c and they are great quality and smooth shaving.

  • +1

For those transitioning from cartridge razors to DE, and don't want to spend Rockwell money up front,

weishi make long handle DE razors, handle is similar length to the gillette cartridges razors you are familiar with, lots of sellers in ali less then $11 US from most seller, made of brass and chrome plated …

    https://www.aliexpress.com/premium/weishi-long-handle.html?d…

2x arko shaving soap sticks for $11, each stick will last min 7 mths …

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Arko-Shaving-Soap-Stick-White-Pa…

    DE shaving is cheappppp.

100's of millions of men shave daily using DE, gillette and disposible cartridges were developed becasue Gillette was loosing too much money from others making blades.

  • Keep in mind that reviews of the razor blades that come with the Rockwell razor aren't particularly spectacular. Of course, it is subject to individual preference. Like the others have mentioned earlier, you might wish to experiment with a few other blades of different brands to get a better and closer shave.
