  • Any one got any recommendations for a TV car for a 6 year old? 50kmph is crazy fast and I think they need something bigger and sturdier to endure all of the crashes!

    • Check back next week!
We will be adding a heap of RC Cars (Ages 6 months and up) to the site at unbeatable prices!

    • Same. Sick of buying our 6 year old the cheap cars but don't think he's ready for something quite this powerful.

    • I have gone through the same thing a few times with my son. The best bet (IMHO) is a generic / popular platform that is easy to build on and repair (cheap).
I made the initial mistake of buying a rally car that was way to fast. At the moment we are driving around in a couple of 1:28 scale K999s. They are around $60AUD delivered. You can easily spend $$$ on mods afterwards if you want.

You might want to check out RCGroups.

  • No free shipping?

I'm not convinced, I think this post needs more bold and exclamation marks before I could consider purchasing.

  • Sensational Value, it couldn't have come at a better time now that Spring is here and it's also school Holidays, please send me Order #1281 ASAP as the kids are driving us crazy!

      We heard your plea!

      Packaged & shipped!

  • Pfft 50km/h… The WLtoys B-range can do 70 (I have the A979-B and can highly recommend, insane speed/acceleration and has survived many stacks). ~$82 here which leaves a few $ for spare parts/batteries etc. The 'buggy' style A959-B is around the same price (~$82 after PLUG5) here.

Parts are also very easy to find online for just about everything (can't find much for the Carrera).

    • First I will like to say, I know nothing about RC cars… when I see 50km/hr, it got me excited and then I see you said the one on ebay can go 70, that is insane speed. I see one different between the advertise one and the one you put on is the charge time and run time.

Their say quick charge 70 minutes charge, 15 minutes run. The one you show on ebay is 120 minutes charge and 8 minutes run.

I do not know whether these are TRUE numbers or are they like mobile phone, always "mislead" the true value.

Given you have these RC car, how many spare batteries you usually take with you? 8 minutes feel like very short and sounds like I will need 5 to 6 spare battery packs to keep the kid & myself entertain.

      • Configuration can often vary with for example 2WD vs 4WD options. Brushless vs brushed. etc…
Hard to say if what you saw is legit.

Run times vary on a lot of factors but my vehicles can run for well over 30mins.
I personally recommend at least 2 batteries.

Things I could do in 120 minutes:

        • Watch 4.8 episodes of Bojack Horseman.
        • Fly Melbourne to Brisbane.
        • Line up at the MCG for the Grand Final.
        • Make 60 cups of two-minute noodles consecutively.
        • Make 40 bags of Microwaveable popcorn.

        You decide…

      • The WLtoys cars have a larger 1400mAh battery which partially contribute to the longer charging times. With a dedicated charger, you can charge the batteries much quicker as they use a standard LiPo connector. I'd comfortably get 12-15 minutes of use out of it - don't think you'd want to be running it for too much longer than that without a break - the motor does get quite hot if you're hammering it. I've used the spare maybe once or twice when I first got the car. The spare batteries have gone up in price a fair bit since I bought them (~$20) likely due to shipping requirements for Lithium.

Strapped a phone to the car and measured 62km/h on a short stretch, but this video shows 71km/h (with others reporting approx the same in the comments). You'd probably never want to reach that speed as it's quite hard to control - the acceleration is what makes the car fun.

        • I believe the only way to settle this is to host a drag race!

The German Car vs The Dutch Car.

          Efficiency vs Windwills.

  • Needed something for my dog to chase at the park…

    • Children?

Not fast enough & they go down too easily.

        • no stuffing around with batteries though.

if it’s not brushless don’t bother ….brushless gives better performance and longer run times with same battery.

wouldn’t buy a brushed motor rc car again, the brushless ones we still use.

  • 50km/h pffft. I bought my 8yo nephew a RC truck that's good for 124 km/h!!. My sister wasn't impressed!.

I've messed around with RC cars a bit so my sis asked my opinion of a $100ish buggy she was going to buy her boy. Soon after I'd bought him a quality used 1:10 scale truck. HPI firestorm <$150 ready to run + some spares. I changed the motor to something less insane before handing it over. It was still capable of 50km/h and because it's competition quality (not a toy) it can take an absolute bashing without breaking. If it does break parts are readily available.

IMO if you want something decent this is the way to go. The serious RC guys sell the old stuff dirt cheap when something new comes out. Decent radios, batteries, chargers etc are bloody cheap to buy new theses days from places like Hobbyking. RCTech forum is great for used gear.

Some of the cheap $200ish new RTR kits look decent but in reality these are just copies of the older generation competition level stuff, but with plastic in lieu of composites, shit steel in lieu of high strengh etc etc.

    end rant.

    • I'm looking for something I can attach a camera and lights to so I can remote drive it under my house to check up on things, e.g. water pooling etc it is a bit uneven under there; have you got any recommendations on options, URLs etc? thanks in advance

      • no idea sorry.

        • Thanks for the reply anyway.

      • you want what is known as a rock crawler if going under the house …they are very stable, and reduced speed but don’t roll over easy …under house you don’t need speed, but you do want something that doesn’t roll over else if there a brick or something you will need to crawl under house to get it back unless you have retrieval rope attached.
i used to use an RC car to pull draw strings for cables in the ceiling of offices ….

  • The same one on ebay is less than $70.
This is either a rebranded WLTOYS or a copy of WLTOYS.

    • Hi Bearig,

Please share a link to where you can find the Carrera Copper Maxx Profi for less than $200 (including shipping).

The only ones I see are listed at $137.57 + $79.33.

      Thanks!

      • Just search "Wltoys A959 Upgraded Version" on ebay.
Sorry I don't want to share a link here, it doesn't help you to sell your product.

        • Hi Bearig,

It's a different product, has different specs and more importantly, it has a significantly longer charging time of 150 minutes!

Should always read the fine print…

          • @ArcherVice: 120 minutes, so ~50 minutes longer. But a ~40% higher capacity battery (1500 vs 1100mAh).

  • Really looking for something like this for my four year old nephew. Just a little intense.
