Joycon Warranty

Hi guys,

I've just noticed my left Joycon stick isn't clicking anymore and the purchase date was the 24 August 2017 but as it was a Christmas present, it wasn't used till late December.

Has anyone had similar experience with Nintendo warranty service, are they really strict?

I may have to buy spare Joycons, damn it's 119 bux for a set. Anyone know of any Joycon deals going atm?

Thanks

  • It's spelt warranty.
You could look into getting it repaired by Nintendo.

They will say physical damage is not covered by warranty, I had the same experience, I told them to get (profanity), and showed them all the online complaints that they are breaking.

Spoke with their manager and they gave me free swap 1 time only, my serial numbers are probably in their database.

Online people are selling metal replacements, so they never break.

    • I'm in the same boat at the moment and need to give them direction on what to do with my joycons.

  • I'd expect them to have at least a three year warranty. Talk to Nintendo

    • Nintendo only gives 1 year warranty, although ACL should cover for longer.

Nintendo overseas has great customer support, but in Australia it's rock bottom and they barely even know about their own products.

  • Big W had a sale recently with them on for $99, not sure if it's still going

    Nintendo is covered by ACL.

  • Thanks for the replies guys.

Jerjergege, my left joycon has that issue you're talking about where it doesn't stay on the rails. My problem is the actual analog stick that isn't clicking. I've ordered and I've received the rail clips, but now glad I haven't done the mod as it surely would have voided my warranty.

I'll give them a call tomorrow.

    • go in store

  • sbals, Target has them at $99 everyday price so I might get these as a backup set.

  • How do i claim ACL guarentee? I've sent the joycons to nintendo but they claim if it isn't a manufacture fault it will cost me money to get it assessed and repaired. If that is the case i may aswell buy a new one as it's $20 for the assessment.

    • Hello, did you ended up getting a resolution from Nintendo?
My left joycon start drifting upward and downward 1 week after the warranty expired :(

  • They would've fixed the problem even if it was outside the warranty period, but they deem it wasn't under warranty as excessive force was applied to the thumb sticks.

So now i have an option of them disposing of it for me for free or pay $20 for nintendo to send it back.

    • They won't dispose of it, they'll definitely be using it as refurb components.

This is ridiculous, Nintendo AU has always been a bunch of (profanity) with this sort of thing.

  • I've just got off the phone with them again and explained how this came about and their sticking by not warranting the joycons due to physical damage.

I've stressed to them that this was a gradual issue and that it didn't stop working dead on it's tracks it was a week or so later. I thought it was just sticky.

Wish i just kept the bloody thing and replaced the analog sticks myself.
